im incredibly polite and considerate to retail and foodservice workers because i have worked, managed, and owned such establishments before

doesnt mean the clerk at the store next to my house isnt a dick for rolling his eyes and exasperatedly sighing when i ask for a bag.
and the treatment is not exclusive to me and the behavior isnt exclusive to him

By the very nature of fast food they push to rush from the store side. Worked at Wendy's and they pushed for low drive through times during rush hours, not exactly the business one should go to expecting charming conversationalists to hand them their food. And if it was a recurring problem that the customer felt a need to comment on, record, and share to the world, then maybe it was a place that he was better served not going to, never mind his insistence on adding time likely adding to a rush on the person behind him.

same? not everywhere has options tho. in my current career ive just evaluated a project in a city that's getting its first fast food restaurant. regardless, its not the customer's fault for visiting during your open hours and if you dont wanna give equivalent service regardless of the time of visit, maybe find another line of work, or (as i've said thrice) take it up with your employer for being the one that scheduled you that way

Regardless of access to competing fast food restaurants, nothing entitles you to berate someone and then upload a recording of it online. Nobody is entitled to fast food, and nobody is obligated to be overly nice to you. Like what sort of service is one expecting at a drive thru close to closing anyways; that this employee should aks him about his day and how he's feeling?

Hell, I've been testy once to memory. Had a lot of people show up for in store orders at a place so the stress got to me and a got a little huffy and the customers in question left. Felt bad later, never happened again. I'm sure as hell not going to expect perfection because I've made mistakes but I've seen enough folks lie through their teeth to try to hurt store employees and the worst I see is rushing the guy through a fast food window.

EDIT: and not even that, just hands him his ice cream(?) and homeslice goes off, so literally all we have is a customer saying it is a repeat problem and the person he is claiming is being impatient is patiently waiting for him to finish his speech.

a good owner would set proper closing procedures to facilitate an easy transition from end of business to lights out, and wouldnt tolerate an employee whose shift end is scheduled to "close" taking out such frustrations on the patronage with poor products and service

ive worked it. 70 hours a week and literally into the hospital. it sucks. but was it john doe's fault for wanting tacos 30 minutes before close? nah, it was my dickhead district manager who refused to let me staff the place properly or enforce reasonable closing procedures.
