Just because you don't think you're a child at that age doesn't mean you aren't a child. You're an older child, but a child nonetheless.

Neither do most 13 year olds. That's why we don't listen to them and use more objective metrics of adulthood.

It's not all about sexuality.

It isn't,
Option A) Every young person is a child.
Option B) I want to fuck kids.

You didn't see yourself as a child when you were 17. You look back on where you were at that stage of life and retroactively consider your younger self a child because you're old now and you only remember the mistakes you made or the things you didn't realize you didn't know at the time.

Don't infantilize others because youth has passed you by.

Of course people don't see themselves as kids when they're 17 they're still children and don't know better

That's a fair counterargument. Yes, I would say that a 13-year-old is still a child. But 17 is still further along in development. If 17 is a child, then Zendaya is a groomer and we should be calling for her cancellation.

It's not about getting the last word. It's that teens are objectively more developed that children. If you want to talk about sexual matters, it's fair to say that they're all minors and leave it at that. In terms of everything else, a 17-year-old is going to handle complex issues, violent content, difficult choices, the responsibility of driving, choices over whether to adhere to social structures or rebel against them, and everything else with closer proximity to an adult than, say, an 8-year-old or a 12-year-old.

Nobody is disputing that people mature as they go. Theyre just stating that in most capacities a 16 year old is seen as a child, and theyre absolutely right.

It was a very frustrating truth for me, when I was 16, as I was working full time and living alone and financially independent, but in many ways seen as a child. But frustrating or not, its still the truth.

It's pretty easy to have privacy as a Hollywood star.

Stop using social media (or use a pseudonym), and don't live in Hollywood itself.

Do somethink like what Madonna or Tom Hanks did, move to the EU (Portugal, Greece in their cases, specifically).

And suddenly, nobody give you the time of day.

It is not, for a number of reasons.

1) social activity exists outside of the online space. The guy isn't complaining about instagram followers, he's complaining about paparazzi shoving cameras up his ass.

2) Paparazzi don't care about Madonna or Tom Hanks, and haven't for 20 years. If you seriously think they won't stalk him to France or whatever, you're insane.

3) The celebrities you mentioned have massively slowed down their output. Holland has not. And it's sensible for someone to live where the work is. Which brings us to:

4) He'll have to spend most of his time in Hollywood anyway, since that's where he's literally working. You can't telecommute an acting performance.

and 5) He does, in fact, have family/friends/a life here that most people wouldn't be willing to just throw away to go play hermit in Europe.

Tina Turner loved singing. She moved to Ksnacht, Switzerland.

It's actually kind of common for famous US celebrities to move to Europe to get some peace and quiet.

And he's got an agent and can look at screenplays anywhere in the world... only needing to fly back to Hollywood to audition. (And act, if it's filmed in a Hollywood studio.)

You realize that every time a servicemember moves overseas, they do exactly what you claim is so difficult?

Tens of thousands of moves every years, but it's just so hard! And they leave behind their extended family, too. Sometimes even leaving their close family, in the case of deployments or a tour in South Korea.

Moving overseas is not as hard as you think it is. Especially to a country in the EU... and especially if you have money.

If teen years aren't the transition, what is?

Like I said, you don't go to bed one night with the mental maturity of a child and wake up the next morning as an adult. Should we consider 17 a child and 18 thru 23 to be transitional? If you're attracted to a 20-year-old, you're attracted to someone who is a half-step up from being a child?

If you're worried about semantics, I would argue "youth" is a good term for a teen. It's a reminder that they have a long way to go, and that they're not to be sexualized or pursued romantically by adult-adults, but it still doesn't infantilize them by placing them in the same category as a 7-year-old.

Or maybe, just maybe, they're still children, and people are smart enough to realize that word encompasses a large age group of varying levels of development, instead of getting hung up on the word itself.

Absolutely bizarre thing to get hung up on and insist on having the last word about, but this type of pedantry is par for the course for you.
