I was an Comic Con playing a Donkey Kong arcade cabinet someone set up and this random fat nerd came up to me and started spewing all these obvious facts about DK that I already knew and didn't give a shit about, then started telling me where to jump to avoid obstacles and dictating how I should play. I told him to stop talking but he wouldn't shut up >_> It was really cringey and annoying

There's probably lots of overlap. Between playing That Year's Call of Duty (and shouting racist shit over voice chat) or Fortnite, they're probably spouting nonsense on 4chan.

When I was at Walmart a couple weeks back buying a SSD for my PS5, the clerk made a joke that I better be buying this to play Spider-Man 2 and I told him I was and just mentioned I needed the space for BG3 and MK1 too... Shouldn't have mentioned MK1...

He went on a tangent about how he was one of the top Smoke players in MK1, how he figured out some techniques no one else had with him, and how he got matched up against SonicFox... Even after I was done with the purchase, he followed me to the edge of the electronics just to brag about how good he apparently was in MK1...

I saw this obese neckbeard adult wearing pajamas at the mall who smelled like pure human shit nagging the Gamestop guy to give him his copy of Pokemon Black a few minutes before the 11AM EST release.

My neighbor named his son Sephiroth. He used to have pictures and posters lining his walls and said Sephiroth was his idol, and he was going to name his son after him. We didn't think he was serious. You can also find the newspaper clipping of the birth if you google it.

His son actually died of an overdose this year, but he was going by Seth in his later years per the obituary.

When the Wii launched (Nov 19, 2006 a Sunday), I had zero intentions of getting it on day one. And back then, I would almost always sleep in. But on that day, for whatever reason, I woke up really early. So I decide Eh, what the hell. Might as well drive to Best Buy and see if I can snag one. I drive to the store, and am surprised to see a line wrapping around the building, including 2 tents at the very front. Im there at 7:30am, and the store opens at 8am.

At the front of the line is the blueprint for a stereotypical nerd, straight out of a movie. He starts pacing up and down the line and shouting in a whiny, nasally voice I am #2 in line! I am guaranteed a Wii! I am guaranteed a copy of Twilight Princess! I will be playing them in a matter of hours! Unlike you, I had the foresight to stay overnight, so Im guaranteed to get it!, and just repeating it for several minutes, emphasizing the word I every time. He had some type of a speech impediment, too. Best I can describe it is he sounded like Sylvester from Looney Tunes.

An employee comes out before the store opens and says that they are going to hand out tickets to everyone, and if you get one, you are free to purchase a Wii by noon. This way, people can go use washrooms and get food. Turned out I was like #80 in line, and I was the 3rd-to-last person to get a ticket. Like 2/3 of the line leaves to find bathrooms or get breakfast, including nerd boy. They open the doors 10 minutes later. So I got a Wii before nerd boy, despite showing up 30 minutes before the store opened, as opposed to camping on a sidewalk overnight in November in Chicagoland.

Cringiest gamer guy Ive ever seen, by far.

I was once dragged to Nintendo New York by my friends after work during the Bayonetta 2 release. Now the game you can just walk in and buy right away but there was another line forming for a event later where they can meet a cosplayer.

I was just looking at the merch next to this next beard in a very nasally voice was on his phone with his mom going "I need to stay to meet this cosplayer. She is very good. I'll meet dinner later. I don't know when I'll be home but I need to meet this cosplayer."

A couple guys I worked with back in 1999 were camping out outside the movie theater a day early to see The Phantom Menace. So they brought an NES and a little TV and plugged it in so they could play it while they waited. Unfortunately they only brought one game to play which was Ikari Warriors. They were asking other people in line if anyone wanted to play Ikari Warriors two player.
