Not even close with the exception of there being story trees which have consequences. But the Larian story trees are like an aged to perfection fine wine where as Bethesda's are like common swill.

Gameplay wise BG3 is tactical turn based.

It still sounds cool, but I havent played a good RPG in a hot minute. I was hoping for something like Fable or Elder Scrolls but perfected. I still have Cyberpunk I could reinstall and try to get into again I guess . Ill probably wait for a price drop since its turn based.

Would be if TotK wasn't released this year. BG3 is fantastic and I won't be surprised if it wins many more GOTY awards, but BG3 doesn't feel like a completely different game compared to other cRPGs the way TotK does to even its own same-generation predecessor.

I think the physics-based zonai construction puzzle solving in TotK is much more unique and impressive, and how differently you tackle problems in TotK game and know that many of those solutions aren't possible in other games (basically none of the solutions you will discover are possible in BotW). Not to mention all this is smoothed out with little technical issue on the weakest hardware of the generation.

Its a vertical vs horizontal comparison with me, and I favor the unique and genre-expanding gameplay of TotK over the sprawling but familiar gameplay of BG3, even if it is being pushed to cover the largest amounts of ground the genre has seen in many years.

BG3 is waayyyy better than totk

This game is so damn good. Its mind boggling sometimes when Im playing it

It uses 5th edition D&D rules, so it's automatically DQ'd for being GotY to me. Sounds like a nice game, otherwise.
