My favorite has always been the character in a movie that says killing is wrong no matter what finally learning the power of killing. Like Rambo 4 where the missionary tries to say Rambo shouldn't have killed the dudes on a boat that were trying to kidnap the girl in their party. Then he straight up smashes a persons skull in during the end. Showing positive character growth.

Sounds like you have more to say about killing than TV tropes.

Yeah thats one of my least favorite. If the entire plot could have been solved by a 5 minute conversation then its quite annoying. Its rare it can be used in a good way. Tucker and Dale is really the only time I can think of it was used as a positive.

I hate multiverse bollocks.

I love the trope where everyone thinks a girl is ugly because she wears glasses and has her hair up, then she removes the glasses, shakes her hair out, and everyone says 'wow!' It's so fucking corny and you see it coming a mile away, but it makes me smile every time.

Not Another Teen Movie taking shots at that is great.

Don't know if I have a favorite.

Least favorite is the obligatory fight and split in a buddy comedy movie. They have the big fight and are apart for a segment of the movie until they reunite. Dumb and Dumber did it best because it only lasted a minute.

It's similar to the couple breakup. One of them, mostly the guy, gets caught in a compromising situation that's usually out of his control like another woman aggressively coming into him, and his SO sees it and walks out. They guy goes "No, ____ wait! I can explain!", but the lady just leaves. It's very tired.

That and "as you know" followed by a forced exposition.

hate: captured hero isn't immediately killed by big bad guy
like: when 2 characters get contrasting scenes of what they are about/what they do

I never really thought of it but yeah alot of them do follow that rom-com style breakup.

My favourite movie trope is a particular kind of psychological twist where it is revealed the protagonist is partially insane, and often they are repressing something dark they have done.

For example films such as: Bluebeard (2017), Fight Club (1999), Forgotten (2017), Memoir of a Murderer (Director's Cut, 2017), Secret Window (2004), Shutter Island (2010)

Least fav:

"As you know" exposition

Gotta be a more natural way than saying "as you know, we live in the city of Citytown and use dollary-doos as currency."

Fav:

Scene switching back and forth between hero and villain doing the similar things (like gearing up) to epic music

I think my favourite is the "unsuspecting good person" ala Snape or Itachi. Or Burt Hummel for this so inclined. You expect or are convinced these people are/would be awful, turns out they're mostly good people.

I actually have two least favorites:

First one is the "Action Prologue" It's largely just a cheap excuse to drum up excitement because the beginning of your story is boring as sin
https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/ActionPrologue

Think Supernatural

Secondly, and this one pretty much entirely inexcusable, and that's the "doing something innocuous and it accidentally solves the mystery.

https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/MoonLogicPuzzle

This is the closest example I could find.

Imo, this is absolutely egregious. It is such a massive crutch for shows like Bones (and House sometimes) No one should be trying to solve a murder case, get stonewalled, and then find the answer eating a box of chicken wings. It's dumb, it's lazy, and it's absolutely fucking everywhere. It's one thing if someone is sitting in a room actively thinking about it, that's okay because I can buy someone trying the look at it differently if they're actually looking at it. But the answer falling out of the sky because you're mowing your lawn or deeding is and will always be awful writing.
