A Sydney police officer who pointed his gun towards a colleague after warning him not to reveal spoilers about the movie Top Gun: Maverick has been handed a two-year good behaviour bond and a conviction.

Constable Dominic Francis Gaynor was working behind the counter at Day Street Police Station, in the CBD, in May.

According to court documents the complainant, 26-year-old Probationary Constable Morgan Royston, saw the Tom Cruise blockbuster the previous night and told Gaynor: "I'll spoil it for you."

The agreed facts state Gaynor, 30, then laughed as a different colleague left the room and said: "Don't spoil the movie, c***".

Gaynor is also quoted as saying: "I'll shoot you."

The agreed facts say Gaynor then took his Glock out of its holster.

"He pointed his firearm at the vicinity of the complainant and held it stationary for five seconds," the documents say.
"The offender's finger was on the receiver and not the trigger. The offender was laughing throughout this incident."

Gaynor pleaded guilty to carrying a firearm with disregard for the complainant's safety.

Spoiler culture what a joke. People who get upset about spoilers are the ones who are on forums. Discords and youtube channels the most about the topic they're terrified of being expoiled to. Fishing, hunting, peeking for clues so they can unleash their agony to the world when they're finally spoiled.

There's honestly really nothing significant to spoil about the movie. There's really only a spoiler for 1 that significant of a character that passes away. Otherwise the story was whatever and I don't even remember any of the characters names other than Bob and his character was forgettable. The main reason to watch the movie is for the experience and just having a good time with it.

But he said there was no malicious intent to scare or intimidate.
Lol no. When they teach gun safety, they really emphasize the importance of never pointing it at someone unless you plan to shoot. You can't "just a joke bro" pointing a gun at someone.

Nah screw that. I hate spoilers and I go out of my way to avoid any discussions that might ruin it for me. When Spider-Man 2 came out, I avoided all topics that even mentioned Spider-Man until I finished that game's story. I'd never threaten to kill someone over it, but I prefer to enjoy a story without someone giving away major plot points in advance.
