I don't talk about it much and barely admit it to myself, but truth be told I was bullied, ridiculed, laughed at and socially isolated growing up. Especially from K-8. You know the child that is basically hated on by everyone in the school for no apparent reason other than not being seen as popular

Mainly because I was a quiet child that didn't speak much unless spoken too. Or also because I may not have had the best sneakers on any given day. I wasn't a mean child though I was just quiet and for some reason it seems people don't like that

Some of these experiences have carried itself into my teenage to adult life.

When highschool came I found myself doing certain things or changing certain things about myself that wasn't 100% true to who I was, for social acceptance.

I'm my adult life I see myself being somewhat of a people pleaser, maybe due to things I'm still carrying on from my experience growing up. And at times people take advantage of that because I have a hard time saying no.

I've also been in situations where it seems others genuinely like me, but I'm in my head about my insecurities and and basically wind up sabotaging my social connections/potential social connections due to my own insecurities. As an adult I'm more confident than I was as a child, so initially people may see me as a normal well adjusted adult individual. But internally I feel the same way as I did back when I was young. I just a lot stronger in dealing with my social anxiety and have developed better type to deal with it. But internally I still feel like the same individual

Wondering what can I do or how can I get over those experiences so I can just live my life as it should be lived. Without worrying about what others think about me. Don't want to live my life feeling like I'm in a prison due to my own thoughts.

Also wondering if anyone else has had experiences like this and if so feel free to share if you're comfortable
