i used to play like 3 years ago with friends a lot. i lost my main account at some point and started over, but we had a lot of fun together.

that friend group fell apart unfortunately, and i'm wondering if it's worth playing solo or trying to find some new people to play with.

I still enjoy playing gta o, but Im on console so cheaters arent really a problem.

There will always be griefers but they are primarily opportunistic bottom feeders, and can be avoided easily enough or mitigated if you know what youre doing.

i also need to figure out how to make money again because i can't afford the thing to start the big island heist or the doomsday heist

No crossplay, except I know on PlayStation 5 you can still play with PS4 players if you load the PS4 version of the game (instead of the PS5 exclusive Expanded and Enhanced edition with updated graphics and optimization, new cars and content, etc.)

Haven't played in many years but when I did, it had a myriad of problems. Loading times were absolutely unacceptable, sometimes having to wait something like 5 minutes to load in. Finding people who actually spoke english was very uncommon. And griefers and cheaters galore, mostly of the russian and chinese variety.

had more problems with griefers, but did have the occasional cheater.

we did figure out a way to sort of spoof a "closed" lobby by messing with network settings, but it wasn't perfect.

whoever at R* decided to make all the missions and stuff only available in public lobbies was a real bastard

IDK about PC but you can do everything in private sessions now if you want, they don't restrict sale missions or anything. I still prefer doing sale missions in public lobbies for the bonus pay, although I don't really need money anymore either.

I havent played in a hot minute but its still my most played game on Steam.

Its fun for what it is. I mainly just collect cars by theme (knockoff Mercedes, knockoff BMW etc) and drive around and occasionally fire the glizzy when someone pisses me off.

i run around with the knockoff Dodge Charger. decently speedy and handles pretty well. i can't afford any of the high end cars yet anyways...

yeah but closed lobbies with friends works for that if that one change is to be believed

They still regularly release free DLC and do special stuff on holidays, and its nice being able to everything in invite only. They changed that a few years back and removed all restrictions for invite sessions

There are PC mods that have roleplay communities and such, and you can probably find other groups who play together based on common interests, or social media like Reddit communities, etc., maybe steam forums for PC?

Personally I like to play in public lobbies and make friends with new people I come across out in the open world.

I like to get on for a couple hours a week still. When I'm not joining missions I stay in my private lobby.

The players in 90% of the missions have gotten much better to play with too imo. In the beginning I wouldn't even bother, because too many people wouldn't help or intentionally lose.

Heists are basically how you make any real money. Just join someone else's if you're playing vanilla.

I suggest playing GTA5 RP though. If you Google it there are plenty of resources out there on reddit and the big RP platforms like fiveM which have tons of servers (each one is typically modded to add TONS of cool shit) Each one will have a custom launcher you download to play on all the modsed servers without having to constantly download mods.

Most of the servers will have their own faqs, discord, and so on. Make sure you use a mic and follow the rules. Check youtube for the the general etiquette that most servers follow too.

Tbqh GTAV RP is millions of times better than vanilla. More people play RP than vanilla even.

Cayo perico has been nerfed multiple times now but its still the top money maker, with nightclub as well.

Modded servers probably have or can have different pay structure thou

I always thought RP looked hella interesting.

Acid lab business is really good for solo players, as well as the aircraft hangar crates now.

I've seen some Survive the Hunt videos and that shit looks like tremendous fun. I've never tried the online myself, though.

With the Acid Lab, if you go through the small story arc tied to that DLC you actually get it for free. The catch is there's an equipment upgrade you have to buy for a decent chunk of change, but once you do the business is very solo friendly and pretty profitable.

Cayo perico is the heist you want to do, it only takes one hour to do all the setup missions and you can run it solo. By far the most lucrative heist.

You have to buy the kosatka submarine to do that one. The apartments are only for the original heists. For the casino heist, you need to buy the arcade.

Beyond that, you want to make income from the Nightclub, the Agency, and your bunker.

yeah i have like 80 grand in the game, so i'm not able to get the nightclub or the submarine

i have a bunker but i don't remember what to do with it, and i have the business center that lets me take cars and sell them.

There's also random events that spawn in the open world like hijacking an armored cash truck or stopping robbers stealing from stores. You can keep the cash for $25k, or return to the store for $20k.

so if i want to do the cayo perico heist i'll either have to get some people i trust or do it solo?

The deal with cayo is the heist finale is quick and easy, once you know what you're doing. It only takes about 12-15 minutes to complete the finale, after doing the setup missions which themselves take only about one hour. Before that point, it's a bit of a learning curve to familiarize yourself with everything and will take longer to complete.

So you can run cayo solo to make money, or take a friend and have them follow you, or conversely trade cayo heists where you run someone and then they run you through. Cayo is the only heist that can be completed solo. Random people joining the heist may not know what they're doing, or the specific route you want to take, and it only takes one mistake where you have to restart the whole heist because it's mostly all about stealth and not getting caught. You don't want to brute force the heist, like in casino heist you usually just kill everyone while alarms are going off, and you also can't run casino heist solo.

You should be able to find someone who is willing to take you to cayo, it's just a matter of someone agreeing to do that compared to joining a random heist from the game menus.
