https://nypost.com/2023/11/06/business/disney-theme-park-guests-are-pooping-while-waiting-for-rides/

Riders at Disneyland and Disney World have been defecating while standing in line, according to witnesses who reported the grotesque sight on social media.

A Reddit poster who claimed to have worked at Disney World in Orlando, Fla., described guests leaving their bodily waste on the premises.
Bodily fluids no longer bother me after working at Disney, they wrote.

Lets just say that the attraction I work at has what the cast ended up dubbing the poop hall because of the amount of times guests have gone in there and pooped.

Kind of glad that I never went to a Disney theme park.

I'm not sure how the fast passes work now, but at least up until late 2019 with the app, I easily had my way. Granted, it mainly works if your party is very able-bodied, but even if I wasn't...."Power Riding" things repeatedly, I could line things up to do things at relaxed convenience. It's just crazy to me that people are going to wait in the 2-hour line.

Yeah Fast Passes are/were a money grab, but you're spending an asinine amount of money (as someone who has a soft spot for Disneyland) to get in the park already. Can't blame the park anymore.

I don't want to get priced out of Disneyland, but I also didn't want it to become people's trash oasis. It seems regardless, people with money can also act like the true bottom of society. I'm sure some season passholders are also over-welcoming themselves.

My frustration for the people who work their butts off to experience it the first time with their kids make it pleasant for everyone else. As an adult, Disneyland is a very lavish expense, but you do it for your kids to experience that kind of separation from reality before the (momentary) materialism and crap starts to develop.

Idk. My sister and her husband work and basically live at Disney World.

They would have told me about anything like this if it happens regularly. I don't doubt that sometimes kids have accidents in line though. But probably still relatively uncommon.

Also, it's the New York Post. Eh.

This sounds like there are some factors involved.
  1. Wait time
  2. Staff in the know

The article makes it sound like areas with a long wait time are where this happens. Then, what staff know about it? I would imagine that custodial staff and ride ops staff would know, but I wouldn't be surprised if Disney parks tried to keep the people who dealt with the poop quiet.

Ride lines can be dark but move, even if slowly. Now a character meet-and-greet line can be longer, but those don't move if the character isn't there, so good luck hiding that not just from staff, but from everyone around the pooper.

When I went in 2014, the fast passes were free, but they were for set times and you could only have 1 fast pass per park active at one time. So what we did was grab a fast pass ticket for Space Mountain in Disneyland and a fast pass ticket for Radiator Springs Racers in California Adventure. Those were easily the longest line in each park and the fast passes would run out fast. But because the system was set up that way, it meant we had to wait in line for pretty much everything else.

But even then, they show the wait times before you get in line. People need to plan accordingly. 1-2 hours shouldn't be long enough that you can't hold it. And if your 3 year old has to go, then take them to the bathroom. Don't teach them gross habits like that.

For as long as I've been going to Disney, lines have always been long. The article mentions an hour and a half. That's actually not bad at all as I've been in some lines as long as 3-4 hours long.

My brother in law is a ride/line operator and has worked at Hollywood's Coaster and Tower, Animal's Flight of Passage, and is currently working at Epcot's Guardians. All very popular rides with long lines. He's told me a bunch of horrible stories about guests. Never once has he said anything about poop.

Again, I'm sure it happens occasionally if kids have an accident here and there. But I'm not gonna take that articles word for it. Especially NYP who has had a Disney hate boner ever since Desantis whole thing. There isn't a lot of other sources talking about it either. Seems kind of tabloidish.

Edit***
I can't believe I forgot that my sister was actually working custodian for Hollywood Studios when she was in Disneys College Program. She's an artist for Disney now though but she's never mentioned anything like that

Been to Disney World multiple times. Never encountered. Hell, barely ever encounter any trash simply due to the spacing of cans, access for staff to clean, and the cleanliness standards regulated in the parks and social spaces.

But, shitty rag news always give people that never experienced or visited a location way more knowledge than people who have regularly been there.
