Long story short i work for a billion dollar business that has out of state HR. I was pulled in the office and fired yesterday for an attendance infraction. This came directly from HR. Basically my employee log states ive had multiple conversations about my attendance in the last 6 months.

But the actual conversations centered around my attendance have all either been good, or centered around a miscommunication that came from store level management. Which my direct mangers have all co-signed.

So now Im basically on standby for at least the next week while the appeal process goes through.

showing up late. Less than 10 minutes late and coming back from lunch less than 10 minutes Late.

it was previously documented I had a change multiple changes in living arrangements in the last 5 months that I was struggling to adjust to and it was also documented that I contacted the employee help line and I didnt get actual help from them.

it was also incorrectly stated by local management what the exact attendance policy was, and a another local manager put in my file that I was wrong without asking all of local management (right after I was given the paper work a manager said I thought you could do that)

To be more exact. I was told my attendance was fine and then was fired for it 3 weeks later with no
discussion in between there, due to a miscommunication that wasnt properly investigated.

So I could probably find a better straight up job money wise, but because of the time I have in the company, I have certain benefits that will be very hard to replaced.

my files has 2, maybe 3 lates over the course of the month. With two of them being due to construction on the street that goes directly to my job that everyone got caught in.

The Real kicker is my file says Ive been coming back from lunch late, but under the grace period that management told me existed.

Turns out another manager says its no grace period, didnt ask any other manager to confirm if thats been said or not And reported it up To HR.

still on standby I had to be contacted within 5 business days and this would be day 3.

Ive been job hunting just in case, and have an interview Monday.

ideally I get offered my job back, with back pay for the week and I can come back after my already planned vacation on Black Friday.

I think its safe to say if you are allowed back, it would be a good idea to stop being late. It cant be that hard to know what time your work starts and how long lunch is so there should be no more doubt about the exact attendance policy

Im actually not that late. I was stuck in construction that management was aware of and I was given false information my management that wasnt properly vetted.

The company actually doesnt have a detailed rule book. For example the rule on attendance is about the length of this entire post and most things are left to the District Manager and the Store managers discretion. Consider we changed Store Managers in the Last 2 months weve been having miscommunications..

For example recently, Managers recently forgot to schedule a manager for the early shift. Leaving employees outside for two hours. In the past you only had to wait 20 mintues and if no one came you got paid out for the day. Youre now expected to wait until someone comes. This change was never explained and was only mentioned after this happened.
