I have 2007 Acura MDX(SUV) and it wouldn't start this morning. Jumped it and charging it now with my 2012 Corolla. How long should I let it charge for?

You need a battery tender first off, never let it charge off of another battery, that's only supposed to be for a jump. Secondly, yes batteries can die in the cold just like in heat, you're more often to have them die in the cold in fact. In heat it's usually coolant failing to keep your radiator or engine within nominal temperatures

My SUV's battery died October 1st, before the cold had even rolled in lol.

It would jump just fine, but basically soon as you turned it off, it wasn't gonna start back up unless you immediately turned it back on.

Yeah probably, but still charge it off a tender hooked up to a stable outlet, don't charge one car battery off another

Charged the SUV for about 10 minutes, drove it around the neighborhood, came back home and sat for 5 minutes and it started up just fine still. Gonna come back in an hour or so to restart it. If it comes on okay then we Gucci. If not guess imma need a new battery. First world problems, man.

Driving your car around for half an hour after jump-starting is more beneficial since your alternator can do a better job at charging as the voltage delivered to the battery is higher.

Mine died exactly at 5 years.
Only problem was it was in my truck, with no keyhole, and my trunk had a couple tires in it.

At least battery changes are easy

If your battery is dying in the relatively warm October temps, replace that battery.

You'll be thanking yourself in the depths of winter that you did.

Used to happen to me. Got one of these and not anymore. But you have to actually attach it to your battery over night.

I have swapped car batteries hundreds of times and they don't like extreme heat or extreme cold with age.

how old is the battery? if it's the original then definitely time for a new one. you can get tools to test the capacity and even being "charged" it's probably still a good bit weaker than it should be. my last car i had 6 years and never had any problems with the battery. so not really sure how long batteries last nowadays. my car before i had 9 years and know i replaced the battery at least once. maybe twice.

Battery jumpers are cheap and easy as hell to use these days. I have one that airs tires. Has a light, power outlets, and of course the jumper.

Was less than 100.

sounds like improper car maintenance is the reason and not the cold
