I've not played a lot.

Only single player games I've played and beaten are the original Super Mario Bros., Nightmare Reaper, Tears of the Kingdom, and Amid Evil's Black Labyrinth DLC. Super Mario Bros. Wonder and Ion Fury: Aftershock I'm working on now. So basically a couple Nintendo games and some boomer shooters.

The best game I've played for the first time this year is Deep Rock Galactic though. By far.

Dwarf Fortress Steam Edition (?/10. DF just lacks so many aspects of that makes a game a game. I'm not sure it's even fair to judge it as a game because it's off doing its own thing.)
Hearts of Iron IV (7/10) Very mechanically sound, but wanted some real RP and personality. Felt like Stellaris with tanks.
Persona 5 (9/10)I can't even really point to the gameplay that I liked about this. Just purely riding on characters, story, vibes, and style.
Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D (9/10) Was my first time playing OoT. Holds up remarkably well on 3DS.
Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (7/10) Just a mess. Openworld with nothing worth finding. Mediocre dungeons. Story spread out in these contextless flashbacks that strips any sort of urgency or immersion away. Terrible fetch quest side missions also without meaningful rewards. But, boy is it pretty.
Katamari Damacy Reroll (9/10) Yeah idk it's Katamari. It knows what it's doing. No notes.
Metroid Dread (9/10) No notes.
Octopath Traveler II (7/10) Great innovation on turn based combat. Wears out its welcome at about 25-30 hours and not much else drive you on after that.
Burnout Paradise (5/10) Just a super shallow experience. One step above driving around GTAV open world doing street races. I miss Midnight Club.
Tactics Ogre Reborn (8/10)Just didn't pull me in like FFT did last year, not sure why.
Diablo I (10/10) Hasn't aged spectacularly but they just nailed the economy, combat, and atmosphere. Couldn't put it down until I beat it.
