Well personally if I'm sick (but not so sick that I can't do anything), I'll avoid non-essential trips and especially avoid crowded places, and I'll wear a mask if it's a respiratory illness like covid, but I don't outright lock myself in the house and avoid even important trips. Car inspection would be an example of something I'd still go to if I was booked in already. I guess it all depends on perspective on what's important. Car inspection and registration is absolutely important (and really has no business being put off until the last day, but that's another issue). However, it's one of those things where you could reschedule for a week later, keep the appointment card or whatever available in your phone/wallet, and then if you get pulled over, have it ready and tell the cop, hey, I'm going there right now, I was going last week but had covid, here's my timestamped covid test and a record of the appointment where I'm headed right now. No dickhead cop on earth would cite you for that. Groceries are essential, sure. I wouldn't fault anyone for going out if they literally had zero sustenance for a few days (I'm also on board with saying get delivery, but the fees on that shit should be criminal, so I understand why it shouldn't be the fault of the sickly for being forced to pay a premium). Just go at a non-busy time, wear a mask, stay away from everyone, make a list beforehand and make sure it's just a few things that you can zip in and out to get you through.
