At least in the case of Uber/Lyft I can understand there being a layer of separation or limit of liability for the company since they provide the connection to the driver and have no inherent control over the quality of the drivers (beyond customer input) or ability to control for traffic, so it makes sense.

I wish more companies were publicly shamed for sneaking in arbitration clauses. This is total bullshit and I'm glad I rarely eat McDonald's anymore. Fuck them using less plastic in their straws when they still use all kinds of other non-eco friendly products (not to mention beef, but hey I'm a meat eater) and then pull this kind of shit to show they really couldn't give less a rat's ass about the public at large.
