Out of the houses we service, fake rocks, hidden in sheds, under mats, etc are all pretty common where I'm located. I'd say more people have moved to lockboxes and door codes over time. It's certainly going to vary depending on the area and the crime level.

We did have the fake rock growing up, but it was hidden in a yard filled with all sorts of rocks. And nowhere near the door. Anyone looking to break in with the knowledge of a key being hidden in a rock was in for a fun time.
