this is why I never take longer than a week.

I had 295 before I decided my give-a-shit is gone and took a week off.

I had 200 til a few weeks ago and they told me I had to take 2 weeks this month

What happens to it at the end of the year?

I like to spread it around all year, though I have taken a full week off a few times, never let the PTO be wasted though.

I have about 120 hours or so. I have to use about a week's worth starting Wednesday because my car has to go in the shop for repairs. (We were driving on the interstate when an semi kicked up a piece of sheet metal or something and it hit my car's hood with a loud bang (I was in the front passenger seat looking down at my phone at the time, and at first thought a tire had blown). It left about a 2 foot long dent in the hood, a scratch on the windshield on the front passenger side, and a scrape along the frame next to the windshield. Insurance company estimated $3,400 worth of damage. Hood has to be replaced, and windshield.)

I have been at my current job for 25 years. I currently earn 18 hours a month, so 216 hours a year and we can only hold a max of twice our yearly earning so my max Vacation time is 432 hours. I'm currently at 416 hours of Vacation (but we can also hold a max of 80 hours of comp time which I also have)

I'm pretty much at the point where I HAVE to take 2 days off a month just to stay right where I'm at and every 4 months I have to take a 3rd day off that month. My days off are Monday and Tuesday so I take the last two Wednesdays of each month off for a 3 day weekend.

In 25 years I have only ever taken a solid week off 3 different times and the last time was about 20 years ago when I bought my house and moved. I don't like the long the breaks. I would prefer taking 3 or 4 day weekends on a regular basis.

I'm prob not gonna get much rest.

I'm going to take care of a lot of things I put off, go to appointments, etc.

My PTO is usually denied for "no coverage"

I have to take 2 consecutive weeks and the rest of my PTO can be spread out as I like.

That's how much sick time i have.
I used up the last of my vacation time this month. I have a couple personal days left I may use for my birthday.
Come January, I get 3 more weeks of vacation time.

You're not gonna get paid for it when you retire if you take it

my job is great and lets it carry over.

I have 239 hours right now

Im kind of blown away by how much PTO Ive accrued.

I havent even been here a year yet and Ive used a couple of days.

I have 167 hours of PTO and 40 hours of sick leave.

YMMV, but my PTO rolls over but only accumulates to something like 240 hours. Sick pay doesn't roll over and doesn't cash out.

Wow, Im sorry that happened to you. Insurance companies suck. Hope you have a decent policy.

can you exchange that for money instead? we can do that on my other job which is nice especially since i dont take too many time offs but idk about my current one

Congrats on 25 years at one place. Damn. Longest tenure Ive ever had was literally 2 years at the most.

Maybe if you work for a shitty company.

i'm on vacation this week. getting my wisdom teeth out tomorrow. wasn't the plan for the vacation but how it works out. i still have 32 hours left i'll roll over into next year. my job has a cap of i think 400 hours of PTO. but i don't really know how people don't use up most of their time. i get sick time as well and used most of that up too.
