Forsake Fortress
Very few new dungeon items
Sailing sucked. Big open ocean that still managed to railroad you somehow

Two entire dungeons made into escort missions
No sexy Gerudo waifus

Overall it was incredibly mid. 5/10. Carried entirely by people vaguely remembering how cool Ganondorf was characterized in the last ten minutes of the game.

It's my favorite classic 3D Zelda. I just loved the art style and the sailing. I know a lot of people dislike it and always opt for OoT and MM over it but I loved it.

I didn't enjoy the ocean part. The game was okay in general.

I thought Wind Waker was awesome, even when it first came out. It's probably the most fun I ever had exploring in a boat in a game.

Other way around, it's incredible and highly underrated.

thats not how it works. new zelda game is always bad and old game is remembered as a timeless classic, always. your opinion became outdated the second Twilight Princess came out

maybe it was mid but idr much about it tbh. i just liked some of the music and the sailing was relaxing

And even then, it was fixed in the remaster.

Windwaker is among the best Zelda games and it is my personal favorite. And it's aged like fine wine.

If anything it's amongst the best. Yes it has several shortcomings, amongst them being a low dungeon count and a mostly empty ocean, but what it lacks in these it pays off in charm and a fantastic world/plot. It also dared give the timeline a definitive ending until the DS sequels shat on it.

I still don't like the character designs over 20 years later.

...but besides that, it's easily a top 5 Zelda.

OG GameCube version was ok. But yeah the tedious sailing and Triforce quest put me off from replaying it very often.

The Wii U version managed to fix every single flaw with the original version.

Imo the worst part of Wind Waker was making the weapon-less stealth section so early in the game. As a kid, I distinctly remembering like at least 5 out of the 6 of my friends who owned the game quit at that part. The one guy who was good at games made it past and said it was his favorite game.

Otherwise, I'd say it does a lot right. But I think for all the rights it does, people refuse to give the same credit to other games.

Zelda fandom is probably the most bizarre and delusional fanbase though. They still think OoT was good, for instance, when it's aged horrendously and is probably the worst 3D Zelda, like objectively.

The major difference I can remember is that you can get a sail that not only speeds you up but also changes the wind with whatever direction you decide on going, instead of you having to stop and play the song to change the wind direction every time you decide on going a different direction.

That's only on CE. The remake did show there were a lot to love about it. Some of the most creative puzzles even til now with TotK, insane usage of the beetle, using the ability to poke as the crux of a lot of puzzles to the point where it felt like an item its own, a stationary beam move that gives long range options vs. other Zeldas that give you the bow early.

Also the time dungeon is basically just the best dungeon in Zelda history. I don't know how people legitimately argue against that when it not only does really interesting escape rooms and also introduces bows to shoot through multiple holes to solve a puzzle. The constant switching of past and present is expertly executed as well
