Since they already fucked up by shutting down the eShop the online servers can't possibly make them any money now. And if it doesn't make money the business has no incentive to offer it.

Not really though since a lot of that shop would have been major third party titles and the reality is they are no longer selling either systems. They probably also have sales data prior to the shut down and internet use for those systems probably dwindling even before the shop announcement was made.

Let's be honest nobody is using online play for these outdated consoles aside from pokemon at this point. Everyone makes a fuss out of online functionality being shut down but this is a 10 year old console. So yeah its normal.

Nintendrones are the fucking worst. Sony and Xbox have both had the same marketplace since 2005. We're only now getting to the point where MS is shuddering games from the 360 era, and even then, they're still offering a large chunk of that library in Marketplace 2.0.

Nintendo, however, has regularly fucked over consumers with it's online marketplace by refusing to not only not include any portability between consoles, but rarely if ever discounts games and expects their customers to pay high prices for nearly 20-30 year old games.

No one expected to be able to play games on the 3ds forever, but an inability to transfer purchases to new platforms is severely anti-consumer

Thats not really a Nintendo-only thing though. I bought a few games digitally on PS3 that I cant port to PS4 (old games, not made-for-PS3 games). So why is it only a problem when Nintendo does it?

It's to be expected. Nintendo is all about selling you the same shit over and over again. They can't allow you to play your Wii U or 3DS forever. What kind of manufactured obsolescence is that? Although, they will sell you Wii U and 3DS games on another system and charge you for the privilege of multiplayer. That is big reds way. I'm sure if they could get away with bricking thier old consoles after a period of time, they would.

Because those games were ported on the PS3 and not compatible with the PS4. And those games are things like "Scott Pilgrim vs The World." And not "Metroid." For example, I have "Mario NES owned on my Wii," but there is no way to transfer that over despite the fact that Mario NES is CLEARLY playable.

What you're complaining about is:
Game A is PS3 only and not on the PS4 or PS5.
vs
Game A is on the Wii, Wii U, 3DS, and Switch, but if you want to play it on each respective console, you have to buy Game A each time.

There are some raid monsters that work like Dragons Dogma Gryanis hole. You can party up but taking it down is a community effort. You know the progress by looking at the pie chart window when selecting a mode

I was worried it wouldnt be long until you were unable to even download the games youd already purchased and I got told I was worrying over nothing. Well here we are... the people who prefer digital over physical copies... this is what youve bought us to.
