Represent.

Did my 8th donation a few weeks ago after a long hiatus. I had to get some blood and liver tests done before they'd take me back, but so far it looks like I'm still in good enough condition.

Going back for my 9th on Nov 20.

In Australia I don't believe we get paid. I haven't been.

Where Im from, nothing. People just do it to help others.

I gave as often as possible for about 18 years, but havent done it since I moved over here.

I believe Im one donation away from six gallons, at least with the local blood bank. I also have a couple with Red Cross but I quit double-donating a few years ago cuz I was getting anemia

Yeah, it at least lets me pretend I'm doing something useful on this planet. That I have at least a tiny little justification for continuing to be alive.

O+ here. I asked about platelets and apparently your veins need to be enlarged somehow. Donating regularly for a few years is supposed to do that, I think? I know I'm only eligible to do whole blood and plasma.

Not sure about the vein thing.

O+ is better to donate whole or double red cells.

I donated blood once, then became permanently ineligible for having spent over 6 months in Europe in the late 90s. Except I found out la couple of months ago that they had changed the dates of ineligibility, and found out today that my particular restriction had been lifted in 2005.

Like to donate platelets twice a month, but I dont always have the time. Gonna donate tomorrow morning.

Edit: last time I attempted to donate, my hemoglobin was a hair too low, so I couldnt. Started taking iron supplements so that doesnt happen again.

I use to work for Red Cross biomed department. I never could donate tho because my iron is always low.

There are donors who come in who've been donating since 50s, they're really cool. Red Cross just gives you juice and cookies. Unless it's a special event and you'll get to eat whatever the sponsor has (pizza burgers breakfast food bagels) and every Sept 11, they have a big blood drive at Fenway and you get to eat all the Fenway franks and fries you want lol

Fairly regularly. I run a hospital and had been an administrator here for a long time prior, so it's always been a pretty nice and easy way to stay engaged with the public and some of the staff. Having the boss's name on the list of top donors sends a good message, too.

I haven't been since like 2019 or so. A blood donation van would come by my companies officer area and that made it easy to take some time to donate.
I did donate bone marrow stuff back in 2020 as part of the Be The March program

I'm O- but haven't donated in a while. I need to hope back on that train. I used to do the double red or power red (whatever they call it) twice a year.

I used to donate platelets every 3 weeks, but I developed anemia after a couple years.

Even though the place I went to told me I couldn't donate anymore, they still kept calling me to donate.

I got fed up and blocked them.

I looked into getting on the registry, but my heart disease makes me ineligible.
