Oh my god the overreaction was definitely people just hating on Ezra being a POS and not the actual movie. It was really fun. I hate when nerds can't separate art from the artist. It really robs many people of a fun experience.

I don't think people really thought it was bad or terrible, but pre-release marketing was going on about how it was one of the best superhero movies ever, and many viewers were disappointed that it didn't even come close to being one of the best superhero movies to come out this year.

It was supposed to be so good that everyone would overlook the lead actor being a violent psychopath

Agree. I personally dont think it was that the cgi was bad, but that there was just so much of it. Everything was cgi, which gave the viewer hours of time to pick it apart.

It was bad though AAAAAND there was like.. entire aspects of it.

it clearly was an stylistic choice that did not flesh out the way they wanted. It looked almost like marionette style effects.

The movie was absolutely horrible and had zero redeeming qualities. Everyone who said this was the best superhero movie ever was clearly bought and paid for by the studio.

My thoughts as well.
And as far as TCs "people are unable to separate the art from the artist" claim, the VAST majority of casual moviegoers either didn't know or didn't care about the Ezra scandal. While it may have had some effect on the boxoffice, it had nowhere near the same impact as the fact that WB made it clear that The Flash is an irrelevant story going forward in the DCU, or just general superhero fatigue.

lol if you think Erza being trash could stop things from being popular.

Some of the CGI is absolutely fucking awful. There are some really good moments, especially near the end in the ChronoCrusible.

I found "Barry 2" to be mostly very obnoxious and not a good character.

I put it in the same ballpark as Spider-Man No Way Home.

It's a good nostalgia trip. Overhyped, but fun. Not overly special.

We got the novelty of seeing Keaton, Clooney, West, Cage, Reeves, Zod and Faora, etc in a fairly decent written and fun story. It's a fun movie, but not snything amazing. 7-8/10

My biggest issue with the movie was how aggressively awkward Barry was. I already found him to be obnoxious in Justice League (both versions), but at least he had only a comic-relief supporting role in those. With him being the lead character the movie needed to tone him down a bit. Instead it quite literally doubled down on the Barries. The audience is supposed to root for the protagonists, not be annoyed by them.

The shoddy cgi don't even bother me all that much, except for that one scene with all the cameos. They couldn't bother giving these characters a place in the movie so they just rolled a clip reel saying: "hey, remember these guys? This is us acknowledging them. That's all." The crummy vfx there made it just that more tacky.

With a different lead actor (or a change in direction for him), the movie could have been pretty enjoyable.

I mean, how would it have worked to give them all bigger roles? Some of them were dead (Adam West, Christopher Reeve, George Reeves, etc).

Honestly I really liked that scene. I just wish they showed more. Like, why leave out Val Kilmer, Brandon Routh, Chris O'Donnell, Christian Bale, Henry Cavill, Lynda Carter, Ryan Reynalds Green Lantern, Swamp Thing, Tom Tyler, etc.

Heck they could have promoted more ongoing series like Robert Pattinson's Batman, Phoenix Joker, Doom Patrol, Titans, the CW verse, etc.

Just cut the scene entirely. The Clooney cameo scene at the end was pretty funny and clever. Making references in that way is fine. Either be creative with it or don't bother.

They show CW Zoom over CW Flash.

The scene would have worked better if it was similar to Across the Spider-Verse where they show footage of previous Spider-Man films, instead of using cgi to make new scenes.

The first act was really bad, especially the pacing and CGI, although the former at least did improve later. But I couldn't get over how overly awkward Barry was, I mean, wtf? They tone it down later but it's still pretty bad.

My biggest gribe though is that they wasted the Flashpoint story. Rushing to these characters biggest storys and villains instead of carefully building up to them has been a consistent issue in this universe.

Death of superman, Batman vs superman, the dark knight returns, the justice league, flashpoint. All wasted for quick short term gains.
