And for the betterment of our planet too, since coal is trash tier to the environment. For decades, big oil and car manufacturers refused to move away from gas. It took government intervention through grants, and 'rewards' to get them to innovate and actually have electric powered vehicles. The first electric vehicle was created in 1891. Eighteen and Ninety fucking One. And we're just now getting to where electric vehicles are becoming a real thing. 130 years later. Why is that? Why did it take so long? Think of what we as a nation accomplished in that 132 year span. We landed on the god damn moon in that span, using computers the size of your house. Yet for whatever reason, we did not have competent electric vehicles. TV was invented. Radio. Film. Air travel. Tons of shit in that time. 2 mega wars. Atom Bombs. Hydrogen Bombs. Everything. Yet it took only until like 2016 for electric cars to become a thing actual people owned en masse. Anyway, nitpicking over the GND wanting to transition to renewable energy by 2035 is a weird thing to get hung up on. We should strive for the best. If we even hit 50%, that's a huge milestone. It's currently the hottest it's ever been in this countries history, and we somehow still are fighting against solar and wind energy.
