With recent changes to abortion laws and the amplification of incel/simp culture through spreading red pill narratives, I think people growing up in Gen Z culture are more exposed to disillusioned viewpoints when it comes to sex. I think that creates an environment where the idea of casual sex turns into a fear of being sexually assaulted/raped and even murdered. In contrast, there's also the fear that someone can be slandered and falsely accused of being a predator; which ultimately prevents anyone from making a move unless they were dating. I just can't imagine an American Pie college type setting where college kids are drinking kegs and hooking up in dorms with completely random strangers.

Hook up culture is definitely still a thing, but there's also a lot of people who are sexless-- a recent survey showed about 30% of all guys under 30 had no sex in the last year.

You see this is what I'm wondering as well. When I was their age, it wasn't uncommon to have a one night stand with a complete stranger.

Not only that, but I would also presume a lot of misinformation spread through TikTok culture via "TruE cRiMe" stories would make people terrified.
