I despair at the notion of a unanimous jury, but I didn't think he'd get elected in the first place so I'm in no place to prognosticate.

Doubt it but I can hope.

The only way I think he doesn't end in jail at this point is if he actually overturns the American government (gonna say that is very unlikely), or if he dies.

My guess is still that if he's found guilty the most he gets is house arrest at Mar-a-lago.

He's a rich white republican so no.

Not only will he not go to jail, he'll be on the ballot next year... Sucks but I can't be anything but pessimistic. Almost my entire family will vote for him again, too.

Trump will be found guilty of most, if not all, charges.

But, being a former president, he will not see the inside of a prison cell. Guarded house arrest with no media (social, televised, or news) allowed until he dies of old age is probably the likely outcome.

In addition, the state dept. and the military are going to tell the states themselves and the RNC to do everything it can to keep Trump off of the ballot. People are allowed to vote for him, but there's no way that intelligence agencies and military higherups are going to work with a proven traitor and criminal.

Typically people like Trump don't go jail. Pay the consequences?! The man's never even paid a bill in his life.

It only takes one chud to hang a jury. Yes the case can be refiled, but all it will take in Georgia (if indeed an indictment is forthcoming) is a Republican to be elected to either the governship or the DA's office to end it or just pardon him.

For the federal stuff, same thing, one chud hangs a jury and a republican president will appoint an AG that will drop the charges. So all they have to do is keep hanging juries, forcing the feds to retry the cases until they get in office. Or until public opinion turns and the spineless dems stop retrying the cases for the sake of "unity" or "reconciliation" or to save taxpayer money.

I absolutely believe he's guilty beyond a shadow of a doubt. I also firmly believe he's guilty of treason. He had those documents for a reason, and the only reason Donald Trump has for anything is to make Donald Trump richer. Dude was going to sell (or already has) to the Saudis or the Russians.
That shit got the Rosenbergs the noose.

The problem is I have no faith in our system of Justice to put an end to the existential threat to our democracy that he is.

If we block prisoners from running for office, then that opens the door for preventing political prisoners from running and/or arresting political opponents. And we already have enough fascism in Washington (and florida, and texas, etc.) without giving them that option.

I don't know. But I certainly hope so.

Hey, I'd love to see it but it reeks of the same hopelessly optimistic energy as "he's gonna overturn the election!". Just cause someone wants something, or because it seems fair and just to them, doesn't mean it is at all likely based on precedent.

Yeah, I thought of that. But it wouldn't matter, it'd still be a prisoner wining an election. Whether or not he personally did anything I feel like it'd be a positive shift towards empathy towards inmates from crowds that otherwise never would. Perhaps the only possible silver lining there.

That said, I will wear that L like a badge of honor if he goes to jail. I definitely want to see him in jail.

Even some of the conservatives I know in my town are starting to sour on him. They think Biden is a crook and corrupt and all that other noise cause that's what all their media tells them, but they've very notably shifted from being trump cultys to more of like a "people do better under republican presidents" frame of mind, and think neither should run. I'll take that over the cult.

The multiple indictments are definitely taking their toll.
