I dunno if you are able to try it, but Cranberry Juice works for me when I got kidney stones. I have gotten them twice, and both time, Cranberry Juice made "swift" work of them. Around 2 days I was able to naturally get them out of my system via peeing.

It HURT bad, both having the stone, and releasing the stone.

That's a pain I always fear I'll get.

1cm is pretty big for a stone, but just small enough to work it's way out of the kidney and start fucking shit up. You got fucked. If they stay in your kidneys they can shatter it with ultrasound. It's a comparatively fantastic experience. I've either passed mine on my own or gone through the procedure I just mentioned.

I take it they're going up to get it? Doesn't sound fun.

What procedure do you have to be awake for? When mine got stuck in my ureter and they had to blast it, they knocked me out.

Now when they pulled the stent out, I was awake for that. Absolutely miserable experience made all the more awkward by some chick making small talk with me the whole time.

now Im mostly off caffeine entirely except for the occasional soda at a restaurant and the random things that have caffeine in them, but no energy drinks or coffee or anything

I lucked out twice. First, I hadn't eaten anything, so I mostly just had dry heaves and a little bile. Secondly, I was the only ER patient, so I got to be babied by some kawaii nurses the whole time. But yeah, I understand the "I'm giving it all I got, cap'n!!" feeling when it comes to expelling anything, just to have a modicum of relief.

yeah the human body hasn't evolved to digest the drinks we have now. alcohol was an adequate replacement for unclean water in the past cause that's still just mostly water and carbs. who know what's in stuff these days.

I had one that hurt like hell but turned out was about the size of a grain of medium rice. The doctor told me to try building pressure next time I peed to get it moving. By that get to where you have to pee really bad, but pinch it so the flow is held back for ten seconds or so, then let it go and hopefully the full stream will push it along.

I went through so many IVs today, I might have dislodged it already (albeit back upwards, which is better than having it block my plumbing). Might try the pinch method before I try the cranberry method, since apparently that can backfire.

Power through, get one a year or every other year. Work on your diet and water intake. Invest in a nice heating blanket, hotter the better. It won't fix a bad blockage but the severe renal collic will damn near put you in shock. But that heat does wonders for soothing the pain if you don't have access to drugs. Even if you grow accustomed though if you have blockage pain for more than a day go to ER asap, this can actually kill you if it goes too long.

Months before my stone, what did I do? Go on a grapefruit juice spree. (supermarket had a tonnnnn on sale)

The misconception about kidney stones is people think something pointy coming out of my wiener but its really just the crazy pain in your body. The passing of the stone is not even that bad, and it all usually feels fine after it passes

This is pretty true. Lots of people think it's like pooping where you can kind of feel it moving along. It's more like it moves and you don't know where it is but you're out of pain so who gives a fuck, then it gets stuck again and you're feeling it. You can kind of guess where it's at from where you're feeling pain. Then it's just over.

TCs case might be a bit different though because it's pretty large. Most of my experience are with ones 3-5cm. They're a lot easier to pass unassisted or at worse with some Flomax to dilate the pipes.
