Literally nobody just walks up to the pharmacy, asks for hormones, and gets it. Unfortunately the majority cis public have absolutely zero idea about the things they talk about.

Likewise regarding the massive "genital mutilation" rhetoric - less than a fifth of all trans women have pursued SRS, it's very much not a requirement to being trans, and when I had my appointment at the gender clinic (an appointment that even took a year's long waitlist in the first place) they informed me bottom surgery even requires 2 years of living as your gender (Canada). To be even more accurate, any "pressure| towards SRS comes largely from cis society that mocks and invalidates trans women who do not receive it with rhetoric surrounding "post-op" vs "pre-op".

That may be true, but not for all situations. All we can do is live our lives and stand up for what we believe if and when it is necessary and most likely safe to do so.

Over here in reality, they've pushed piles of targeted legislation, openly demonize the entire community as pedophiles and groomers, publicly dismiss the existence of trans individuals in particular as mental illness or the result of indoctrination.

That is sadly the republican party just as much, if not more so than it is groups that are openly anti lgbtq+. The republican party won't rest until we are back in white nationalist pro slavery America. They have power and they use it to try and oppress and destroy individuals and groups instead of bolster the people of the US.

Its incredibly disingenuous to describe decisions about gender affirming care as being made under duress. That is complete nonsense and misinformation spread by transphobes.

I'm not defending people in the past, but it was societally acceptable to be anti LGBT at one point. Call it ignorance, bigotry, whatever, but a case could be made that people who were anti LGBT in the past and are not anymore had some valid reason at the time.

So by using the current year, it's drawing a line and saying you are absolutely a piece of shit if you are still against LGBT

You can think you're innocent in this, but if you push the narrative that trans kids need to reach the age of majority before they transition you are leading to the death of trans people.

I truly don't think you understand that cis opinions that don't come from medical professionals are not valuable when it comes to trans issues.

Its misguided at best, takes the focus away from what is best for the person in question to be happy and healthy as their own self, seeding doubt, and just overall obstructive and unnecessary. Also comes from a place of assurance for anyone other than the person transitioning, assuming its even genuine in the first place. That kind of rhetoric is typically not genuine and is just harmful stalling.

Why do you keep framing it as a choice, like choosing which college to attend?

Gender identity is no more of a choice than discovering your sexual orientation, or if youre left handed, right handed, ambidextrous, etc.

D, most are shit but there are still some small children that haven't had a chance to be well educated and had to live all their lives learning how "gay people are the devil".
