The roster of playable characters and Kameo characters for Mortal Kombat 1s first DLC Kombat Pack has seemingly been leaked online.

According to a product listing on Amazon Italy, there are six playable characters and five Kameo characters in Kombat Pack 1. The six playable characters are said to be Quan Chi, Omni Man, Ermac, Peacemaker, Takeda, and Homelander.

Packaged with them are apparently five Kameo characters, NPC fighters that assist a player during a match. The Kameo characters listed in the leak are Tremor, Johnny Cage, Khameleon, Mavado, and Ferra.

Of the playable characters, the two most interesting ones are Peacemaker and Homelander, which were previously reported to appear in Mortal Kombat 1. Peacemaker hails from DC Comics and has starred in James Gunns The Suicide Squad and is the star in the HBO Peacemaker spin-off TV show. Homelander, meanwhile, is the lead antagonist of the comic book and Amazon TV show series The Boys.

Mortal Kombat 1 was officially announced earlier this week as a reboot of the popular fighting game franchise. The game introduces a new universe created by Fire God Liu Kang with reimagined characters, a new fighting system, new modes, and new finishing moves.

Mortal Kombat 1 is set to release on September 19, 2023, for PC, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox Series X|S.

Probably isn't gonna be a part of the story. I'm more worried about johnny cage being a kameo. Hope that doesn't mean he won't be playable.

No Tifa Lockhart or Ashley Graham?

Didn't they say during the announcement that there will be a JCVD Johnny Cage skin?

Would be weird if he's not playable, or even in the main game.

Either way, I understand excluding characters not involved in the story, but it just seems icky to then bring them back via DLC if they're series main/beloved characters. If the new Tekken game made a story somehow not involving Heihachi and then released him as a DLC character, it would be upsetting.

Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa as Shang Tsung is being advertised as DLC in this trailer and he's probably in the top 5 of favorites in the entire series.

Weird that this article says that Peacewalker and Homelander are a big deal but doesnt mention Omni Man which is just as cool imo

I dont see why they wouldn't, as they've gone out of their way to recruit the appropriate actors in the past. Also we're completely glossing over Omni Man.

Fighting games have this weird tendency where all the playable characters are supposed to do their part in the main story, and those that don't just ain't in. Then DLC becomes some sort of excuse to put them in later because it's unreasonable to retroactively thrust them into the main story.

Being that this is the beginning of a new timeline, I doubt Quan Chi has any relevance at all. Shang Tsung, on the other hand, is an odd choice. Are things gonna go so differently this time that Shang is just kinda... there?

It says takeda will be a dlc character not a kameo. But yeah, maybe characters cns be kameos as well. So some characters will probably be both and some will be one or the other.

Van Damme is playing Cage that's why he's cameo. they can't have his head being ripped off.

Thats standard practice these days in fighting games.

They can only do so many at retail cost and some have to be new characters, meaning more staple characters are pushed out at launch.
