What is the point if I have to watch what I eat every hour of every day, forever. Taking medication. And how many good years do I have left on my feet? This is no way to live.

Complaining about gout while others are fighting for their life with cancer, would you prefer that instead?

First time was when i was 18. I was young and didnt take care of myself at all. 1 gout flare up changed that tune real quick.

The first time it happened, i thought i broke my toe. It was that bad.

you dont get gout by being a healthy person. Maybe be real with yourself and make some significant changes to your lifestyle so that you can live a long healthy enjoyable life?

get into exercise. Start eating healthy. Hell, maybe itll even get you a girlfriend or boyfriend if you start to actually take care of
yourself for once.

A friend of mine gets gout flare-ups whenever she eats meat. So the solution for her has been to go vegan (she's also lactose intolerant).

Yup. Alot of wealthy overweight medieval folks had problems with gout. Diet high in sugar, and fat, and no exercise.

The best ways to avoid it is losing weight, drink less pop and more water, and get more active.

Naproxen is the best drug to take IF it does flare up in my experience. Its OTC as well (or you can get a script for a stronger does) at any CVS as "Naproxen Sodium"

Damn that's like my first time as well. Couldn't even limp it was so bad.

I definitely want to exercise more. With my flat feet even just walking for an hour is painful. I've also finally been able to recognize my triggers that make me dive into junk food and feed my depression, the only problem is stopping myself from going through with stuffing my face. Maybe I should dunk my head in ice water like those comedy shows to snap my brain out of it and not gorge.

Eating healthy to avoid gout includes stuff like no beef, pork, seafood, or even asparagus and spinach. Might as well go full vegan at that point.

Im not saying I eat or live healthily, but I also dont drink (no alcohol or coffee, though I do drink soda), Im not overweight, and at worst, I have high blood pressure. But I have a family history of gout, so it hit me a few years ago. Still get the occasional flareups, but not as bad as me being bedridden for a week.

you should try intermittent fasting, one meal I day. I only ate dinners for most of 2021 and ended up losing 65 lbs in like 4 months.

it will be tough mentally, but the more you stick with it, the better youre gonna feel. Plus you save a ton of money

Easiest suggestion is drink lots of water and zero soda. Drink alchohol extremely sparingly its terrible for gout.

Ironically I've resisted eating burgers for a month... but then overdid it with lamb chops and mutton and it spiraled from there. I've tried to go only chicken for animal meat since I can't go full vegan. I do love beans, although I heard lentils were bad for gout and garbanzo beans were bad for gout and they're like the only vegan option available that I know of

Gout can hit any joint of your body it just targets the feet a lot because gravity carries uric acid there.

I'll ask for that. They gave me a topically applied gel and I also wonder if those gels even do anything, those topically applied gels seem completely useless and placebo-like
