TP has awesome atmosphere and a major focus on story. It has a slower opening than a typical Zelda, but I don't think that's a bad thing.

My favorite is OoT since it's the best one.

Iirc, I barely played Twilight Princess on the Wii because it had horrible controls and I was unable to play with an old fashioned controller. That game and Super Mario were so bad they were the reason I traded in my Wii and got a 360, and never looked back. I haven't played much Nintendo since then.

I can only imagine people thinking it's the best because it was their first 3D Zelda they played or they really like Midna.

TP is easily the worst 3D Zelda to me, it's a drab awful version of OoT.

The first playthrough was pretty enjoyable. Mostly because they did a bit of the Metroid Fusion thing in which certain franchise tropes are intentionally subverted (like the water temple boss starting out as a near-identical copy of the OoT Jabu's Belly boss, but it turns out it's just the head of a massive serpent). Plus I'd wanted a useable ball-n-chain flail weapon since LttP.

Problem is, those moments didn't have staying power beyond the 1st playthough, and the ball-n-chain sucked ass. The dungeons are pretty creative and well-designed, but dungeons have never been a big draw in Zelda games for me personally.

Ngl, Midna alone single handedly saved that game. And the main antagonist had potential but was botched 2nd only to the one in skyward sword. Otherwise it wasn't very good in my opinion.

Dungeons, other characters, overlord, music and items were all forgettable and bland. With most items being completely useless outside of the Dungeons you aquire them. Even the bow and boomerang.

On top of which the original version was stupid easy. To the point that even trying to die was difficult.

It's my nephew's favorite Zelda because it was the one he was really into when he was about 12 years old. He admits that other games in the series are better, it's just the one that stuck with him.

Nostalgia like that is powerful.

The snow mansion is probably my favorite setting for a dungeon ever. It's so different.

I fucking love TP, dont diss on it
I like the double clawshots
I like how Link looked
I like how the dngeons went, City in the Sky was amazing, and the snowhead mansion? Love it

God i loved exploring in it, in fact, Midna from the beginning until the completion of the temple for the 3rd mask piece was insufferable, but she was better after

Loved that game, even now

I think the real X-factor for why people love it is Midna. She accomplished what most other Zelda companions couldn't: people actually liked her and wanted her to be there. Her heavy involvement in the story also made it feel more like a journey of two characters, instead of just "Link and his NPC exposition dump"

The pacing of TP is a bit sluggish on a second play through, but on the first run it felt that much more like an actual story because of the time it took to establish itself.
