As a general thing most animals (and plants I guess) that we commonly see just look like it makes aesthetic sense that the animal looks like that as a unique existence. I look at an elephant and in itself it just looks perfect. There's nothing about it that tells me outside of comparison with other similar organisms, that it was not created as is as a monument of beauty. Same with a zebra, or brown bear or mostly any other animal. Nothing seems like it was just added to the animal to better suit its environment without taking account for its aesthetic design.

Is it just the brain seeing the known and saying "that's normal"? But then there are some animals like flatfish where you can just see evolution at work when looking at them. You can see how the eyes migrated from both sides to one side to fit a sea floor based lifestyle. Why can't my eyes and brain see such when looking at galapagos turtles or wolves. Nothing looks out of place. It all looks like, well, like they were created by Jeebus to be as is. Which they weren't, of course.

I dunno. I'm probably being dumb. I've watched and read so much material on evolution in the interwebs and I've never seen an explanation for this. Maybe there isn't one. Maybe it's all in my mind.

I dunno, cell division is my guess. Like almost everything is a mirrored image when split down the middle, so when things aren't a pretty good mirrored image, you'll know "sum ain't right wit Dat boy"

It took hundreds of millions of years for things to look "right". It's not like everything on this world happened over night. A lot of "updates" happened over the course of evolution. A billion years ago life here looked very different.
