I plan on stopping in every day since its on the way to my car, even if I don't do heavy lifting or running i'd at least like to walk maybe a few miles a day

It is if you dont give your muscles a rest. You'll end up with an injury like what I did when I was younger. Was out of commission for more than a month injuring my chest.

Edit: walking though is probably okay

yeah i'm trying to keep it decently light. i need a more active lifestyle since i'm sedentary most of the day and want to drop some pounds while building muscle. I won't be doing HIIT anytime soon(i have asthma and high blood pressure anyway so i'm sure my heart would damn near explode lol)

For weight lifting, the way I learned from a trainer was to alternate muscle groups. Upper body one day, then lower body the next. But with cardio, you should definitely give yourself rest days.

Rest days are very important. That's how your muscles recover and grow.

That being said, I've basically been lifting 6 days a week for 10+ years so it's totally possible. It's all about how you program, alternating intensity, alternating muscle groups, etc.

Its true, but rest days for cardio should be relative to your level of fitness. Years ago I was incredibly fit, so I would still run ten miles everyday, rest day or not. But on a rest day thats all I would do. Now, I only run about two miles on a rest day. Some people will not need to do much of anything on a rest day.

My point is, if you get to a point where youre actually fit, you dont generally want your rest days to be do nothing days so much as days where you take it a bit more steady.

I use the weekend as rest days. But I do primarily go 4 to 5 times a week. Sometimes multiple times a day. I'm kinda on the ignorant shit. I do alternate muscle groups though.

You need rest days, but if you want to go walk at the gym for some reason and not outside, that's fine. I'd implore you to go enjoy the outdoors somewhere though.

i go to the gym legit every day and walk for an hour/two hours, i rarely have a rest day unless something irl happens
I've been losing pounds pretty fast too

the reason i go to my gym instead of outside is because while i walk on the elliptical machine, i can play my Switch as i walk, and it really passes the time

i'm legit working out, losing pounds, and playing video games at the same time

i'm more impressed you have the confidence to game while you walk or even bring it to the gym. I thought about bringing a game but ultimately i wouldn't know where to put it lol

Oh absolutely, there's like a little nook on the machine underneath the screen where it shows how long you've been going/how many calories you burn, I put my phone on one side, my Switch without the joycons right next to it, and play crash bandicoot for 2 hours as I walk and jog, yeah it makes those 2 hours go right on by

Okay so, I'm sure you know this, but just in case. Do not, for any reason, store your steam deck in a gym locker. I know multiple people that have had their shit stolen at the gym. Those locker rooms are not secure at all, and it's not worth risking your steam deck getting stolen. Either keep it with you, or leave it at home, on the days you don't plan on using it.

yeah i'd absolutely keep the bag on me or somewhere way out of the way if i'm going to use the pool, since theres a separate floor with a pool that is mostly just kids and physical therapy and parents

Day 1 down, did 0.6 miles on the treadmill(walking), switched to bike and did a mile, then did some bicep curls and triceps machine(the one where you reach backward and pull the machine to your chest and slowly release.

Overall stayed about 45 minutes, forgot my water too so i was hungry and dehydrated lol. Day 2 tomorrow i'll probably do a light strength workout and then get in the pool to satisfy my daily cardio.

i'm sure someone will say "That's weak, do more" but i wanna ease myself into the routine of doing stuff so i can gradually progress, i think if i started out doing a HIIT i would damn near have a heart attack lol my back was already kind of bothering me after changing

yeah i have to download some shows to watch or something, i tried bringing my switch and steam deck but there wasn't really any room to play on the treadmill so i kinda quickly got bored of just walking ngl. My arms are a little sore, i didn't find the strength workouts hard but I did kinda feel the burn so I guess this is a good level for me to train my muscles at until I can move on

Walking everyday shouldn't be a problem but it would depend on your current health condition and/or injuries. Elliptical machines and stationary bikes are good too for lower impact cardio
