I forget the name, but the one prisoners talk to their lawyers in while in jail. On tv they always talk freely in there but even though they couldnt use the recording in court Im sure theyd be able to use the info gleaned to get evidence

Mostly the law, not that it applies to cops. Anything gathered in such a way though would be inadmissible in court.

They probably do. Who is going to investigate them to find out if they are doing things legally and ethically if there is no knowledge or proof that a crime has taken place?

Maybe they do, but they can't submit it in court
