I didn't remember Pokemon Arceus at all until you brought it up.

I remember everyone made fun of me when I said that it looked fun.

I mean, it looks terrible, but there was no chance I was gonna play it so I limited my rage to "worst thing humanity has ever seen, sending a strongly worded letter to Nintendo"

I could have been so much more brutal.

I haven't played Pokemon in forever, but how come a 150+ dev team makes graphics that look like that?

game was good as fuck. put like 200 hours in. and in downtime i mentally told myself i was gonna 100% the pokedex (like, do ALL FIVE checkmarks of each checkmark thing, not just the first one)

Yeah then scarlet and violet came out and everyone turned the hate towards them and suddenly arceus looked great lol

I dunno if this is a hot take, but Arceus definitely looks worse than Scavio

I calmed down by continuing to not care about it

They both have their weaknesses. I remember laughing out loud the first time they showed SV and the windmills or whatever were spinning at like four frames per second. Why would you even put that in a trailer?

This, the game was fun. I play plenty of games with shit graphics and it doesn't bother me there lol, why would it bother me here? As long as it's not actively glitching out and I can tell what I'm looking at I just dont care about graphics in a pokemon game. Hell, I'd rather they went back to 2D anyway, the games weren't buggy back then.

Its moreso not that people cant enjoy games with meh graphics, its that they expect more from a company as big as Gamefreak with a game thats as big as Pokemon.

Remember when gamers use to say graphics doesn't matter so long as the gameplay is fun? Well this game made people cared about graphics LMAO.

I enjoyed it a lot... Put over 400 hours into Sword... Granted a lot of that was grinding Raids and Dynamax Adventures for Shinies but I still enjoyed the base game and DLCs...

It's better than scarlet and violet that's for sure

I was more disappointed then anything how lenient the fanbase always was at gamefreak and pokemon for releasing a game with graphics that bad in modern day.

No other AAA game and studio could have gotten away with that crap.

Nah, I don't buy that, not completely at least. Yes, a company as big as them should be able to do more, but the graphics and animations for Pokemon games has always lagged behind industry standard. The only difference now that the gameplay is no longer as good as it once was, and now people care because both graphics and gameplay is bad.

Honestly, Arceus is a really good example I think. The graphics are bad but the gameplay isn't and as a casual fan you generally hear people talk about how that game is a step in he right direction, whereas ScarVio are memed to death as being ugly because the gameplay doesn't standout as good enough to overcome it.

Because both time and inexperience with that style of gameplay exists? There is a reason why LGPE and parts of SwSh look better.

Not really a triple A studio. DICE is a triple A studio, they have 700 devs. Bethesda game studios have 400. Game Freak has ~165.

It's just their games look as 2 gens ago as Nihon Falcom's, who only has about 60 devs or something. What is Game Freak doing with those extra 100 developers? Maybe they need to stop working on two games at the same time?

The graphics never bothered me, but im still steamed that i cant beat the arceus boss fight
