Im only 8 hours in and starting for the Earth Crystal. But by god I feel like Ive been playing this game forever. >_>

Probably has something to do with the way the game is structured. Or maybe its the way the plot shows up in random blink-and-you-miss-it dialogue boxes. The main villain isnt even mentioned until the 6 hour mark and the conversation is over so quick you might just miss it lol. So I guess it just feels like Im playing a 10-hour prologue.

But gosh I love the job system. Made sure to level up Lenna's monk to learn Barehanded then swapped her to casters and now she's slinging spells and DPSing with monk-tier strength like shes the goddamn Avatar

The tone is lighter overall, and as such the more dramatic moments hit weirdly and don't stick as well.

It is kinda weird how light the story is. In terms of formula it doesn't do much different than other games, but it just feels less. I think even 3 felt like it had more going on.

For me it's that the dramatic moments just kinda...get forgotten as soon as they're introduced, lol. Like the twist with Lenna and Faris being sisters would be pretty dang important in almost any other game, but here it's like "ok, we've established this, moving on..."

FF4 also had hyper-condensed storytelling that sort of felt like you were just following an outline and stopping just to highlight the big events, but the result felt much more cohesive there.

I think because its heavily based on grinding new jobs. You might spend a few hours without actually doing much, but its still one of my favorites.

V has the goofiest/ less memorable story from 4 and on. That said the job system is pretty addictive and makes for fun combinations. Also the length is typical for FF games at around 25-30 hrs

On the other hand, VI feels like it moves real quickly. I'm only 5 hours in and the dungeons are short and everything moves too fast. Its such a strange sensation. I plan to play 5 later. I wanted to beat VI and then go through the first 5 games.
