Speaking to host Tucker Carlson on Fox News after he claimed that the urge to have sex and procreate has been subverted by contraception, he said: In the past, we could rely upon simple limbic system rewards in order to procreate but once you have birth control and abortions and whatnot, now you can still satisfy the limbic instinct but not to procreate.
So we havent yet evolved to deal with that because this is all fairly recent in the last 50 years or so, with birth control.
The Tesla founder who is the second richest man in the world with a reported net worth of $189.2 billion went on to insist that unless more children are born in an effort to sustain or even increase population numbers, civilization is on track for a depressing end full of overgrown adults.
He said: If we dont make enough people to sustain our numbers or perhaps increase a little bit then civilization is going to crumble. Will civilization end with a bang or whimper? Well, its currently trending to end with a whimper in adult diapers, which is depressing as hell.

Despite the billionaire businessmans comments, there were around 3.9 billion people alive when he was born in 1972, but the human population is expected to pass 8 billion this year.

I really don't get it. If he gave a shit at all about humanity and/or the world at first, did he just go mad with power? And if he was actually like this all along, why did he come out as a stereotypical comical rich villain much later in his fame?

As to why he changed, it was likely a combination of him getting arrogant off of his own success, and surrounding himself with yes men who tell him all his worst ideas are genius.

He definitely used to be different. I don't know if he became a worse person or just became worse at hiding what a bad person he is... probably a combination of both, but more the second one.

I think he probably did and still does want to save the planet, though it seems to be less about actually caring about everyone else and more about a savior complex where he has convinced himself that he is this brilliant visionary who will save all of humanity. Again, I would guess he's always been kind of like this but financial success has made him worse.

He's slowly infiltrating the conservative base. "We need more people" is tied into "abortions shouldn't be allowed". It's the only thing that makes sense to me.

Isn't he the same guy that wants to populate Mars because there won't be enough resources on Earth or something?

He's thinking a bit bigger than that. Fewer people being born is a problem for capitalism as it always needs more meat for the grinder. It's that simple. They need more people to exploit to support the model of endless growth.

But isn't the US' birthrate already positive, and isn't our population already large enough? He's also might not be around long enough to see a baby born now contribute their tax money in 30 years.
