The Kardeshev Scale charts out the different evolutionary stages of a civilization. We are still currently Type 0. We won't be Type 1 until we have full mastery of our planet and all sources of energy on it

Type 2 is mastering the solar system and the sun's energy

Type 3 is mastering the galaxy

Type 4 5 and 6 I am less sure on the differences but I know at some point you master the universe, and I guess maybe 6 might be mastering a multiverse

Type 7 is apparently going even beyond that. This video says something about an omniverse but also that such a civilization would merge into a single entity. Kinda like The Borg I guess. But way beyond their level of technology.

An entire civilization that has all its citizens merge into each other until only 1 being remains that has complete mastery over all that exists

That would basically be "God"

How far on the Kardeshev Scale do you think humans will make it and how far do you think is even possible in reality? When the scale was first created, it only went up to Type 3 I think. The later stages are fairly recent and some people still think anything beyond 3 is just fantasy

There was a topic earlier about a guy who couldnt figure out mirrors so I dont think well be out of type 0 any time soon

AI is our one shot to create a legacy

I think we could have reached Type 1 by now if not for all our different feuds. Different religions, different cultures, different nations all backstabbing each other and only looking out for themselves

If we didn't have those problems we might already have achieved Type 1.

Was that in the original series or those sequels they did later? I only have ever seen the original show. And I don't remember how it ended. Watched it like 20 years ago

Also, I think I decided that Q in Star Trek or Mr Mxyzptlk from Superman comics, would be at least type 5, or maybe type 6 civilizations

I would put things like the Daleks, Cyberman, Star Wars Celestials and the Stargate Ancients at 4.

Q and Ascended Ancients at 5, which are basically Gods.

The rest seem unnecessary.

Doesn't this just prove that God doesn't exist? It implies that a God requires aeons of evolution to come into existence, which is the opposite of what God is supposed to be according to religion.

Well I'm not religious so I don't really believe in a literal biblical deity . If this situation turned out to be real, I still would not see the type 7 civilization as a god in the same sense as a religious person might. I would just accept they were once like us maybe, and then managed to reach the final stage of evolution. I would not feel compelled to worship them

Well if there is a multiverse, then maybe something like that is out there. Different universes might have different rules of how they work, and maybe in some universes, stuff like superpowers are possible

I wonder if the multiverse will be proven in this century.

Things like this make you wonder how far technology can go. Is there a ceiling to how powerful and advanced technology and science can take civilizations? If there isn't a limit...wow. imagine the possibilities.

Perhaps being God is about the friendship we learned during the trip?

I hate letting my mind delve too far into the meaning of life and limits of existence. It's just immediate dread shrouded in a cold darkness.

Yeah and maybe another type 7 from an even older universe created that universe. Makes you wonder how many universes there were before we got to this universe.
