I haven't been to New Orleans for almost 20 years, but here are some of the things I remember other than Cafe du Monde:

1. Preservation Hall: I think this is where Louis Armstrong started or got famous? It's a tiny, historic venue that still has live music:

https://youtu.be/b7M8ZkQma3I

2. The French Quarter is famous, but what I didn't know until I got there is the blues quarter, which is within walking distance from there. I don't know if there's a different name for the area, but it was cool. Every bar had live ragtime bands instead of a DJ.

3. Obviously, try the Cajun food. There was a lot of amazing food I tried there, but I can't remember the names of any of the restaurants.

4. We were walking around one night, and someone said we were walking by Anne Rice's house. It looked spooky since it was at night.

That's about all I remember.

I personally think their beignets are horrible--I really don't get why they're so popular

Def gonna try to get to pres hall among other venues.

I made a custom google map where I put in all the music venues and highlighted ones we specifically want to get to. We have the blues sector specifically noted to check out

In my experience. New Orleans is everything but what you're normally told to do. Bourbon St. is overrated. It's overpriced and smells like a combination of piss, shit, and puke. So go one street over one way or the other, there's bars everywhere. Walk Bourbon once to say you did but then say goodbye to all the police barricades and smells.

Was gonna hit up Cafe Du Monde on a Saturday morning but the line wrapped around the building and said fuck that.

For me it was all the other little spots around the French Quarters. There's a cool a Swamp Tour in La Place, LA that's not far and they have shuttles, WW II museum is top notch if you're into that shit.

Check out a cemetery, they're really beautiful.
Also, go to Willie Mae Scotch House, and please order a side of red beans and rice. I legitimately cannot find the words to accurately describe just how good it tastes.

Also, when you get to Cafe du Monde, don't be intimidated by the line. It moves real quick.

Cool, I don't know if there are any specific blues bars that are famous. We just went bar hopping at night and stumbled into the blues quarter one night. Every bar we went to had an awesome band. It was stuff like this:

Some had more ragtime style music.

Anyone got any opinions on the breweries in town?

eyeing NOLA brewery, Urban South, and Brieux Carre, but it might be tough to get to any of them given their hours

Oh, yeah. We took field trips there (from Baton Rouge). The Audubon Zoo and the Aquarium of the Americas are great, too.
