able to.

Further, you can't sue/claim damages etc for anything that happens as a result of having been delivered first aid

I think this is true in the US as well. Not sure if the topic title is.

Depending on the wording, seems like the kind of law that could be stupidly enforced. As long as there's no overly harsh enforcement of it, I imagine it functions fine.

This right here is the key part and if that is NOT in place in some form people will go out of their way to avoid helping anyone.

Nope since a) mouth to mouth isn't compulsory and b) you can buy barriers/filters to avoid contact while giving mouth to mouth

It's a bit of a Showcase law really, good in principal -- but the fact that it states "deliver first aid to the extent you are able to" means there's so many work arounds that the law itself is meaningless except to show (or showcase) the spirit of what it means.

If you think America is bad with Healthcare, in China if you help someone you can be responsible for paying for their treatment if they're unable to. So you phoned that Ambulance? Too bad if they can't afford it, you're paying.

"In one notorious case, a court ordered a Nanjing man to pay more than 45,000 yuan (4,400) to an old lady whom he had taken to hospital. The judge argued it was common sense that he would not have gone to such trouble unless he had caused her fall." -- https://www.theguardian.com/world/2011/sep/08/chinas-good-samaritans-count-cost

I think in the US it's a little tricker but generally you are protected.

I was doing some googling and apparently you have to act within your training and be rational about it. Like if you don't know how to perform a trach and you try to do one on someone and mess them up you can be sued. Or if you see a car wreck without fire and go to pull one of the drivers out of the car but they had a neck injury and you just made it worse and paralyzed them you can be held responsible because they didn't actually need pulled from the car and could have waited for EMS.

At least they do that:
"On the afternoon of 13 October 2011, in a narrow road in Foshan, Guangdong, a two-year-old Chinese girl (Wang Yue also known as "Little Yue Yue") who was run over by two motorists. As she lay bleeding and unconscious on the road for more than seven minutes, at least 18 passers-by skirted around her body, ignoring her."

I was reading an article about CPR the other day and it basically said that even if you're not sure of yourself you should still try, because doing it wrong is preferable to not doing anything

Everyone is capable of calling 112 (911) and reporting that something happened, then following the instructions on the phone

There are much worse examples of China's injury laws.

Like the people who make damn sure the person they hit is dead because otherwise they pay for their medical expenses.

Okay, and the paramedic is up to 10 minutes away. You willing to take that gamble?

Better than some countries. Isn't their one country that says if you help someone who is injured you are responsible for them so that has created a culture of not assisting people who need help for fear of being sued. I seem to remember one case where someone was run down and no one helped because they didn't want to end up in trouble. That's fucked up.
