It doesn't matter because you'll never finish. There's so many fuckin discworld books it's mind boggling. If you wanted to read them all you'd have to plan for it ahead of time and it would be a years long endeavor.

Not the first one 'Colour of Magic' but is one I recommend reading later as Rincewind is great, but Pratchett gets fully into his stride later.

Guards! Guards! is the common recommendation and what I support as is where the Ankh Morpork City Watch starts and has some of the best characters.

Full of critics of society, the rich, politics etc and many inclusive characters arrive in later 'city watch' books.

And obviously lots of comedy.

Someone else recommended Guards! Guards! and I think either that, Mort, or Equal Rites are the best starting points because they have the most interesting series arcs.

Bottom line is, dont use just chronological order, and dont start with the Rincewind novels.

Yeah, a good guide if you want to read through a complete 'story' but it isnt required. I never read them that way and still utterly adored them.

Also, finally got around to reading The Shepherd's Crown very recently and made me all weepy. His books were a massive part of my youth and was a wonderfully happy end, even if shorter than I would have liked in an ideal world. Couldn't bring myself to read it despite getting it when it came out.

I saw someone elses coverage of this video and they said Contra was infantilizing JK Rowling and other female TERFs by removing their agency.

Basically Contra saying that theyre being misled by male transphobes instead of actually being transphobes themselves, that shes a handmaiden instead of the/a leader of a hate movement.

That actually JK Rowling has the most agency even more than a transphobic male politician, because shes not a politician and is rich. She can simply decide to stop with the transphobia, just go silent on the topic of transpeople and wouldnt really face repercussions from it, just that TERF followers would be confused. Shes not beholden to transphobic organizations or voters.

That's not what Natalie said at all. She said transphobic right wing men have diverted attention off themselves to make JKR the figurehead leader of the vocal gender critical movement. They pass the laws that hurt transpeople and JKR takes the fall for it. People are forgetting in their outrage that she's just a cog in a machine.

She's not saying that JKR was duped or tricked. This is something she voluntarily signed up for. A willing handmaid.
