Does anybody with a "normal" job really like what they do?

The idea of any sort of enjoyment seems to be an alien concept to you.

I feel like my job is normal and I actually enjoy it

I'm a line cook and I don't mind it. Would be nice if I made more money, but it's interesting enough.

What do you do?

I'm starting a new job tomorrow that I'm going to enjoy. Or at least enjoy more than what I was doing before.

I'm going to be working with one of my good friends and I'll get to listen to music all day. A/C this upcoming summer is gonna be fucking sweet too. Haven't had that in a long time.

I felt that way until I got a job that doesnt deal with the general public.

Yes. The more you can own the business and/or make the hours how you want, the better.

Yeah I work with mentally ill people. Its quite enjoyable and rewarding. I never thought I'd enjoy it as much as I do.
Its astounding how normal they are until their meds wear off. Then you get the really "out there" stories and behaviors. Some truly excellent material for horror movies.

But yeah, it doesn't pay as much as my qualifications can get me, but its a job that I am excited to wake up every morning and do. Plus it fun just being around people.

I want to enjoy things, but I just can't.

I work nights crew grocery and I like my job... No customers, job isn't hard, great coworkers, and I can listen to podcasts all night...

I'm a network engineer and I like what I do. This line of work has varied from "like a lot" to "hate a lot," though, depending on the companies I've worked for.

I'm at a place where I like the job a lot and I'm hoping to stay here for the rest of the way.

When I look back at every job Ive had, my favorite parts were the times I wasnt working. I wish I could enjoy work.

I've adopted a philosophy about this, based in my experiences with my last couple jobs: if I go into a job thinking I'll enjoy the work itself, inevitably there will be bad, unpleasant, unenjoyable days, and I will grow to resent the job. So now I go into a job for what it enables me to do with my own time.

You know those ppl with those weird ass titles but still somehow manage to be more than profitable? They're secretly the happier type of people. Generally the people working "normal" jobs will always look down on these people and wonder at the same time why they're so unhappy with their work.

That's not saying just do whatever you want tbh. Anything takes time, luck, effort, vision

I love my job a lot, yes.

I dont love it but I dont hate it and I make enough money that I can deal with that just fine.

I'm a teacher and my feelings toward my job are more positive than apathy.

But idk if "enjoy" is the right word because I'd still rather just be home lol.

But on the other hand if we lived in a Star Trek Space Luxury Communist Utopia and money didnt exist anymore, I'd probably still do it. So I guess that means I enjoy it?

I can understand how you might not hate your job, or how you can find it sort of agreeable, but the moment it's a job it's not really likeable anymore
