Teams sometimes get promoted or demoted between leagues. There are multiple levels of league with the Premier League being the cream of the crop. All teams work to try to enter the Premier League. And if a team in the Premier League really starts to suck they get demoted out

I don't fully understand how it works but it sounds way more interesting than just the same teams year after year in one league. Imagine if all the major US sports used this system. I think it would make things more exciting and unpredictable

I've heard the Premier League makes more money than the NFL, so if the goal is money, America is doing it wrong

I've always thought the same thing. Only problem with promotion/relegation is that it eliminates division rivalries.

How does the draft work in leagues like this? Like can a relegated team draft from the same pool of players as the top tier teams?

Only if their gross profits are higher by costing less. In terms of revenue, the NFL is a global king. Premier League is a very respectable #4.

And even if that wasnt the case, theres higher guaranteed revenue in a franchise model versus having to be potentially concerned with getting relegated into financial oblivion.

Irregardless, for all intensive purposes, I could care less.

Im honestly surprised that MLB is #2 and ahead of the NBA, considering the latter has much more of a global following. Baseball isnt even widely followed in most countries.

MLB is still extremely popular in the US, despite what doomsayers have prognosticated for 30+ years, and it always has healthy infusions of quality Latin American, Japanese, and Korean talent.

But the number of games doesnt hurt, either. Playing double what the NBA plays helps the overall revenue, though thats a statement to the sports popularity that 162-game seasons draw well outside of shitty ownership markets.
