They literally gave you the choice to buy either the 4 best games in 1 collection, or buy the 4 worst games in 1 collection, with 2 of them (X6 and X7) being actually terrible games.

They really should've bundled them all together in one collection

Kinda convenient though, I'd pretty much never play the latter 4 games so it's nice to not have to buy them

also the worst thing about these topics when they come up is that we all know marthgoomba is going to come in here and claim that somehow X6 is the best in the series

I still like X6, obviously not the strongest in the series but I refuse to play X7 or X8.

I still wish they would make X9 already. They keep making regular Megaman games which I was never a fan of in the first place. The ability to dash and wall jump just added so much to the franchise. They just need better power ups. I still think one of the dumbest power ups they gave us was the helmet that looked for hidden passages.

They should have included the Gameboy games.

XLC2 also gives you Gate and Dynamo at the same time as the final boss of X challenge instead of Iris and Double.

I like X8. It's slightly better than X5 imo. The only bad things is that it's kinda hard at times and there's 2 jetbike levels >_> But otherwise it's pretty fun and was a step back in the right direction before Capcom just sat on the series forever.

I liked the Gamecube X collection. It had X through X6 as well as the bonus kart racing game.

Same. Hell the battle network games are small enough they'd all probably fit on one disc in a physical format.

x6 was visually polished but the gameplay was terribly designed. Many of the stages were insanely difficult in a cheap and frustrating way and they felt protracted.
The most egregious designs in the game is you can forever lose NPCs to enemy should you fail reach them 1st.The only solution is to restart the stage from scratch or restart the game if you accidently overwrite the save file.

Despite all the flaws, i stomach it and have fun from playing it

Yeah, 8 was fine. Nothing ground breaking, but it was actually a decent game.

X2 is better

X6 is the best PS1 X game that gets too much undeserved hate

X8 being the opposite that gets too much undeserved praise

I will say that X6 does have a fantastic soundtrack despite everything.
X7 is just irredeemable in every single way

X7 was so bad that I never continued playing the series to get to X8

X7 has the Sigma first phase song and they got the Barry Burton voice actor to voice Red though.
And it's the only game where X is straight up overpowered.

I didn't even know that they came seperate since the physical has all of them...

honestly i played X7 fully for the first time when the Legacy collection came out and despite it being an absolute trainwreck, i actually had fun with it. Mostly because i knew exactly what I was getting into, but as a jank games enjoyer, it was hilarious.

X7 also has a pretty banging OST, gotta give it that too!

I never played it tbh because I was so disengaged with the series after X7, so it's possible I would have liked X8. But my love for the series really focuses on the 2D sidescrollers X1-X6.

X8 is a sidescroller though. There's no 3D movement in it at all unless you count the jet bike stuff.

yeah X8 is a solid 7/10 game. Biggest problems are a few levels being kinda really shit and a bad currency system that forces you to grind (or cheat). The controls and movement feels janky at first but once you get used to it it's quite precise and fun.

As a lifelong Mega fan, I've always wanted to try to get into X7, but I CANNOT get past that intro cutscene to even make it to the startup screen. I know nothing else about X7 and X8, so I'm not in a hurry.

Yeah, grinding metals in X8 does suck. You need *a lot* of them to get upgrades. I just put an adjustable wrench on my controller so Axl auto-fires into a robot that spits out metals and left it running. When I came back a couple hours later, I had enough to buy everything. But the fact I had to do that is pretty dumb in itself

the PS2 version had an underflow glitch you could use to get max metals and buy everything but i think they got rid of it in the LC sadly

The game just feels janky and there's a lot of small dumb shit that adds up, like the fact you can beat all the bosses and still get the bad ending due to bad rng, and how you have to intentionally waste time because bosses wont drop parts unless there's 9 hours or less, and you cant get all the parts in 1 playthrough. Stuff like that

X5 isn't as badly designed as other post-X4 games but it is the dumbest tbh with the whole RNG story BS. R.I.P to tjose who mostly built up Zero then had Zero taken away from them because the story decided to flip you the bird

X6 is honestly my least favorite of the X series, even moreso than 7. Its just the mosty frustrating of the bunch with the Nightmare system, the gate levels, the Gate battle itself, the NIghtmare mother battle, etc.

X7 was overall a poor game, but tbh I don't think its the complete trainwreck its made out to be. Maybe its because I went into the game with absolutely no expectations but I had a bit of fun here and there with it.I liked how they handled the ship system in the game, I didn't think ALL stages were bad and some were okay, I liked how they handled obtaining X armor upgrades like the classic X games, this game introduced brought back the partner switching mechanic that X3 introduced and made it better, and while Zero was very iffy to play as I didn't find playing as X or Axl that rough.

X8 was...meh. It was obviously more polished compared to the previous 2 titles and I like that they improved upon the partner switch mechanic X7 had, that said grinding for upgrades could suck and X8 had some sucky stages as I recall. X8 is better than 6 and 7, but not by that much imo.

It still annoys me how Capcom was too cheap to put both collections in a Switch cart.

Given the Battle Network collection, its only a matter of time until they release a Starforce collection and a Legends collection. If/when they announce a Legends collection, theres a very small, tiny, minuscule chance that a Legends 3 could finally happen if it sells it well enough. But then again the X collections are years old and theres no X9 in sight so who knows

I feel like the reason we haven't gotten a Legends Collection is for that very reason. They know that would lead people to think 3 is coming, so it's either wait until that happens or it doesn't happen at all.
