A married couple with three children discovered they were cousins after taking a DNA test to learn more about their family tree.

Celina Quinones, a realtor from Colorado, shared the news in a TikTok video that has been viewed over 4.4 million times since it was posted in March and reaction to the video has so far been mixed.

"There's a lot of negative comments, it's horrible," Celina tells PEOPLE. "People keep asking, 'Why would you do that? Why would you post this?' But I take everything with a grain of salt. I'm a realtor, so I'm used to getting badgered all the time, so I'm like, ah, it's nothing."

They are technically related but it's very distant. It's like a cousin of a cousin or something like that. All I know is they are not really directly connected to you.

1st cousins are the children of your parents siblings. 2nd cousins are the grandchildren of your grandparents siblings. I wouldn't say that you're basically "not related" as 2nd cousins but there's a lot of genetic difference being that far apart.

The cousins of your cousins are not blood related at all. My Irish aunt married this Lithuanian man and so his Lithuanian nieces and nephews are my cousin's cousins.

Second cousin is your parent's 1st cousins kids. It's a little close for comfort imo.

What mattered was whether or not it would significantly risk the health of your offspring, which is why 2nd cousins and on may as well not even be related in the sense of not being able to marry

If I dated in my home town, there's an insanely high likelihood I'm related to them within a few steps.

Kids I rode the bus with were like 2nd or 3rd cousins. Didn't know for years.

As long as you're not reproducing with your immediate blood family, there's minimal (chance of) harm here. Not much more than reproducing with a random person in terms of negative effects. And that's presuming they're 2nd cousins and not 7th (an insane % of any given population would qualify here)

This is such a nothing story.
