Never, they want things simplified and it's unfortunately eroded the flavor of jobs like the Arcanist-based ones using DOTs. I get why they wanted to reduce the number of DOTs and skills any job would use but like, wtf. :<

They will keep it simple to make jobs as accessible as possible for everyone
And they won't implement a job requirement for content so you'll still occasionally end up with marauders and rogues and conjurers in end-game dungeons and shit

i've only seen this happen once, i also forgot to put my jobstone on for a while but i don't think i went into a dungeon. the jobstone thing is stupid anyway.

i don't want them to just keep adding skills, that is anti-controller

they're gonna cull the existing ones or consolidate them onto fewer buttons as they add new ones

On a controller, you can have up to 32 abilities visible at once, I believe, right?

I feel like that's more than enough space for any job that I've played so far, as long as you don't bother with the role abilities like Leg Graze or Arm's Length or whatever.

The most I could see them do is actually add high level abilities to some of the base classes as a means of artificially adding jobs. So like, you could remove The Bard soul gem and just be a Max level Archer and have different abilities.

Realistically, they're more likely to eventually do what 11 did which is start releasing weapons and armor that are equally powerful but specifically tuned to boost different skills so that you would play the same class different ways depending on which weapons and armor you had equipped.

^^Imma keep it a buck, I've been playing for years, and I've never had to use Arm's Length, Foot Graze, True North, etc.

Any enemy that attacks you while Arms Length is active will slow them. Arms Length is incredibly useful for tanks in dungeons. Slowing a large pack of mobs is a form of mitigation and I find it crazy a lot of tanks don't use this skill more often in dungeons.

Arm's length is amazing I use it all the time so I don't have to do that stupid thing where you run so you don't get knocked off the edge.

both of these
it is very useful for both uptime and (mostly dungeon) mitigation

Do you do high level content (extremes, savage etc.)? I've found Arm's Length/Surecast very useful in these (along with Arm's Length as mitigation as mentioned above). You can get away without Foot/Leg Graze in most content (maybe useful in Deep Dungeons). Melee DPS would probably pop True North to help them meet DPS checks but I dunno if the difference between hitting and missing positionals is that noticeable cause I don't play melee

Nah. I'm sure using role abilities are good in high end stuff, but I'm not interested in that. And as far as the MSQ and regular side stuff is concerned, I never found them necessary.

or cross classing even
They used to have cross class skills but got rid of them because they kind of sucked, were cumbersome, forced people to play classes they didn't want to play to get skills that were literally essential to playing the role (such as Protect/Cleric Stance for healers or Provoke for tanks), and everybody just wound up using the same ones anyway.

Role skills are the better, easier to understand version.
