They smell human and zero in. Bed Bugs have harrased humans for a long time. They have found evidence of bed bugs in remains of human dwellings from like 6 thousand years ago. They probably started biting us before written history As a kid I didn't know they were real. I thought it was just a nursery rhyme. I never really thought much what a bed bug could be. Apparently at least in America, they were rare for decades. Some new poison was created a long time ago that drove them into thr shadows, but then they came back. And supposedly are evolved to resist that poison now. I got them finally several years ago. I've now experienced them in 2 different states. WA and Alaska . I was mad when I saw one in Alaska. Traveled thousands of miles only to meet them again I've heard you are now more likely to find bed bugs than when everyone on this board were kids. NYC supposedly is a bed bug hellhole.
