It isn't bad but the story kinda sucks at some points. Mercenaries mode is the only reason I still play 6. 6 has the 2nd best Mercenaries mode next 4.

Pretty sure 6 was the first Mercenaries mode where you could move and shoot.

6 Mercs is way better than RE4. Split screen co-op does it alone. But even without it, it makes RE4 Mercs seem like a stepping stone to get to RE6's. It better in every way. I guess aside from bosses feeling like bosses rather than mini bosses. But there's more mini bosses to make up for it and it makes it even more tense to have multiple mini bosses at once.

It's messed up that this game has no infinite launcher.
I took the rocket at the end then finished giant enemy Simmons with the Lightning Hawk so maybe I'll at least get to keep that one.

The turret section against Simmons could be better but RE4 had Del Lago and RE5 had Ndesu so a turret section boss was inevitable and I might as well just shrug.
I don't like the phase halfway up the building. Standing in the distance taking shots while he's fighting Ada is boring. Climbing with forced falling sucks too.
I like the roof fight at the end more. At least it feels like a boss fight rather than a cinematic.

Changed the language back to English for the adventures of Roidfield. It's true that German Piers makes some funny exertion noises but Roidfield is the guy.

More alternate costumes being held captive by cutscenes. I wouldn't mind playing as green jacket Chris/Piers. I definitely wouldn't mind playing as samurai Chris in the main campaign.

Chris and Piers get grenade launchers in their campaign. Good.

Door gets blocked by falling rubble, Chris and Piers decide to go all the way up to the third floor and jump out instead of blasting a window on the ground floor.
And an enemy had a rocket launcher. Oh sure, they get rocket launchers. Oh what am I complaining for, I've got a magical grenade launcher that fires acid and ice.

The part where you have to wait for Finn to destroy the turrets is too long. Anything where I just have to wait in one of these games is too long.

Speaking of too long, next level is Chris and Piers chasing a giant snake around an apartment for weeks on end.

Well that was as long as I remember and then some.
Enter building, chase snake around building for fifteen years, fight snake, chase snake again, finish snake, jump across floating platforms, get chased by helicopter, fight helicopter, driving sequence where both players get a turn on the turret and a turn driving.

Even if it's not the longest one, this one always felt like the game's big endurance test to me.

Chris and Piers' ending is probably the most memorable part of the game.
Apart from the bit where Chris dresses up as a samurai and visits a subterranean mine where he then kills 150 zombies with the same rhino-like shoulder barge of course.

One thing I've found out I misremembered was that at the beginning Piers is the one eating the steak, not Chris. For years it was my joke that Chris only agreed to go on the adventure so he could clear it up fast and go back to his meal. Now it's more like the first thing Chris did after Piers sacrificed himself was think "Now that he's gone, I can have that meal he never finished in the intro cutscene to myself, it's probably still there! Hell, it's probably still warm!" ...And he was right!
"Enough, my escape pod launches in the morning, I wonder what's for DINNER."

I'm still disappointed they never went further with Mutated Piers. The previous games both had a character with something like that in mercs. 4 had Krauser's plaga arm attack, 5 had the Wesker dash antics. I've always thought 6 should have had a souped up version of Mutated Piers with a stamina bar and some melees as an unlockable mercs character.

I think this was the last appearance of Roidfield. It even ended with him walking away into a light. It's a shame he was only around for about half a decade, he was a funny guy.

Just started Jake and Sherry's campaign, aka Jackass starring Ustanak.
Right now the BSAA guys are exploding turrets and it's completely out of my hands, I'm just waiting on them.

Torn on whether I should change the language again. On one hand it might be funny, on the other hand I can't remember much Jake dialogue outside of some one liners so it'd probably be best to leave it in English.

Ustanak gets shot a bunch of times, has two gun turrets unloaded on him, takes a point blank gas tank explosion to the face and falls out of a helicopter into the arctic mountains below. He is fine.
Sherry and Jake get a parachute but the propeller from an exploding helicopter slashes it and they fall from a similar height. They are fine.
I love this DBZ shit.

Ustanak update.
-Completely unaffected by temperatures in a freezing cave.
-Defeated some random guy who walked through a door in single combat. It wasn't even a J'avo it was some random underground mine enthusiast.
-Broke down about five large iron doors consecutively.
-Got pushed through five or six walls by a large piece of drilling equipment.
-Got pressed against a rock wall while the drill ripped a hole in his torso.
-Came back a minute later and one-shotted both Sherry and Jake, successfully capturing them.

Just makes Nemesis look like an absolute chump.

Ustanak update.
-Attended the local plane crash.
-Fought 4 main characters at once and lived.
-Got hit by a bus and did not care.
-Repeatedly tanked point blank explosions.
-The fight was only broken up because a giant flaming electrical tower fell on him.
-This is a minor inconvenience to him at most.

Ustanak is the personification of this game.

Final Ustanak update.
-Got electrocuted and strangled at the same time.
-Endured the Wesker kung fu.
-Had big containers launched at him.
-Was submerged in lava. (This is a big one, you don't see a lot of characters survive this. El Gigante went in in 4 and could only manage to try and grab Leon before succumbing. At the end of 5 all the literal final boss of the franchise to that point could do was try to pull the protags' helicopter down with him. Ustanak? He goes in and he climbs right back out.)
-Uses a fucking underwater facility exploding as a speed boost so his transportation platform thing can catch up to Sherry and Jake's (Which is going at crazy speeds might I add.)
-Gets a bunch of random junk launched at him while trying to crawl after Sherry and Jake on the lift.
-Is finally defeated when he's shot with a magnum in his exposed core. (Which took who knows how many explosions, a big drill and being melted from spending a minute or two in lava. If someone'd given him some armor filled his inventory with gold eggs there just wouldn't have been any hope for the protags.)
-Traumatised Jake to the point it caused him to straighten himself out and become a good guy.

I know Sherry and Jake were meant to be the stars of this but Ustanak is just the most outrageous fucking dude in the game, he's the best. He makes Nemesis look like a Goomba of slightly above average size, or like Asylum Demon or DMC5 Vergil or that reviewer guy who couldn't beat the Cuphead tutorial.

There's actually a playable Ustanak in the game. It's in one of the deserted multiplayer modes. I really think it's a shame you can't pick him in mercs mode/no mercy mercs and just have some dumb fun mowing through the hordes. Would have been fun to see what his alternate costume was. Maybe something like that green armor Doomsday has sometimes.

Playing mercs instead of Ada's campaign because Ada's campaign is just a bunch of things from the other 3 + some boring puzzle stuff + you play as a boring character.
Mercs however is stuff from the previous campaigns but instead of cinematics and cutscenes they have samurai Chris and that grenade/coup de grace trick. Good deal.

I like the gameplay. I have gripes but overall I enjoy it.

-My first big gripe. If you die in single player mercs, there's no partner to revive you. Here is the death process. You go into this boring slow dying state which takes forever, you either wait for a slow meter to fill up that revives you or an enemy closes in and auto-kills you in a slow cutscene. You cannot pause and hit reset at any point. This is the only time the cinematic walking simulator shit manages to reach into mercs mode. If you were to lose all your health your chance at a high score would instantly be over so you'd obviously want to skip this long tedious process every time. Horrible.
-Grace periods are my second gripe. A lot of the time later into games when the difficulty starts going up, you'll get situations where you finish an animation, whether you're attacking or being attacked and some enemy that's already in flight will just instantly auto-hit you. 5 was really great about this, different game altogether but Dead Rising 1 had this down too. Maybe they figured they could go a little crazier here since the counter button is in the game but it doesn't feel good having to contend with stuff like this. The Mining The Depths boss is guilty of this, you're countering an enemy and he just stands next to you and spawncamps you by setting up a big smoke cloud around you.
-Piers deserves a better counter on his main weapons. You dodge a zombie while holding the sniper and he just does a little shunt with no range or damage on it. It's bad enough we don't get to play as mutated Piers but now you're doing this to him too? You can perform a counter while holding a grenade to get something a little better but cmon.
-More skill slots please. I treat power counter like a necessity and campaign gives you three slots so why not here too?
-Why isn't more of campaign mode like this?

The rest is good.
-I like the huge hitbox on the overhead karate chop counter for the lunging enemies.
-I also like that this mode lets you fight zombies instead of J'avo as Jake which just feels like a total power trip.
-Default Chris, default Sherry, default Jake and Carla feel like the strongest characters of the bunch.
-I don't hate the grenade trick, I like that since grenades are an item every character can get, it means you can get a good score as anyone.
-The knife is back. It was great in 4, it was dead in 5, it's been revived in 6. It's a shame the stun rod which was awesome in 5 had to be traded for its revival.
-No Mercy's much more fun than in 5. There's a lot of enemies holding dynamite or enemies that explode when knocked down time time so if you don't wanna go for counters all the time and just want to have a laugh you can just explode everything. It reminds me of RE4 where grenades just dominated. You can play as L4D2 characters in it too, they even have loadouts unique to them.
-They changed how spawning works. In 5, save for the Ancient Ruins and the Village, there'd strictly be 150 enemies for you to kill. It could funnel you into playing the exact same way each time. 6 will flood you with more enemies than that and allow you more options. Something restrictive they added though is to get max score you want to kill the boss(es) last, so most rounds turn into a similar game of keepaway. The Ubistvo will kill enemies when you don't want him to, the MTD boss will spawncamp you, the fly monster just sucks to fight in general. Can get tedious.
-There's a taunt button that gives you your stamina bar back. Cool.

Pretty fun. Oh well, improvement on this system never. It's just not something we deserve anymore.

my big issue with Ada's story is that it needed a real final boss.
she only has 1 unique boss fight and thats carla. but her final boss is just one of the leons final bosses forms and not something unique to her

Crashed and burned is more like it, the game was so hated it took 5 years before another RE game was even considered and only word of mouth and great reviews is why RE 7 sold well.

RE fans hate RE 6 because of how it fucked up so badly.

You 100% can restart through menus. It doesn't pause. But I don't see why that matters if you're restarting anyway. I will give you that the menu icons aren't very user friendly.

Oh. PC? Im not sure. I feel like I did on consoles. Cause I remember racing to restart round before my character died so it wouldn't take me back to the character and level select screens
