Do you think a mass migration to the southern states has been happening in the last 5 to 8 years?

It seems like cities like Nashville, Atlanta, Dallas, Charlotte, Raleigh, all of Florida, ect. are growing very quickly in relation to the rest of the country.

Does it seem accurate to say that the country is mass moving to southern states?
If so, why do you think that is?

Traditionally cheaper costs and probably to get away from "liberal" policies.

Boomers, the largest generation other than Millennials, are basically all retired now.

People tend to move towards warmer climates upon their retirement.

It kinda makes sense.

Lmao no. There are some conservatives leaving liberal states because "muh rights" but there's no mass exodus like they keep trying to claim.

No, who the hell wants to move to those states? Sure, they're cheap, but that comes with downsides too.

This. Whenever I visit the southern states i see people complaining that undesirables from California are moving in, raising the cost of living.

No, the other way around. I live in Los Angeles and there's always some articles popping up talking about how people are abandoning California and New York in droves to go to states like Texas and Florida.

To be fair, he did include all of Florida, which has been very conservative under Desantis.

Top 5 states last year were Florida, Texas, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee. Then Georgia. 7 of the top 10 most moved to are in the South.

5 states that lost the most people were Massachusetts, New Jersey, Illinois, New York, and California.

Dallas has been in the top 3 fastest growing cities in the country by big margin. Like someone else mentioned, they are mostly liberal cities.

The largest city (by population) with a Republican mayor is Jacksonville, FL. But Jacksonville is a bit misleading because it's a city the size of a county; it's the second largest city by area in the US. Next on the list is Fort Worth, TX.

But you can't judge a city's politics by the mayor alone.

I moved to Georgia from MA a few years ago, and I met many people down here that did the same.

CE is making it sound like politics is the main reason, but it's not. It's a much lower cost of living and better weather when compared to the Midwest. A middle class job in the south will go farther than a middle class job in MA.
