so, in previous chapters, Kawaki used his ability to send Naruto and Hinata to some different dimension to keep Naruto safe from Momoshiki, whose presence is always haunting Boruto.

he feels that as long as Boruto is alive, then Momoshiki is always going to be a threat to Naruto, so he attacked Boruto in the last chapter, taking his eye.

in this chapter, Kawaki is on the run while Konoha's forces are after him, and Eida catches up with him. Kawaki says something about how no one could ever turn on Boruto since he's the son of the beloved Seventh Hokage and how Kawaki is just this stranger to everyone.

using her charming ability, Eida sends out this blast of energy, and now everyone (with the exception of: Boruto, Sarada, Kawaki, and Eida) believes Kawaki is Naruto's son and that Boruto is the stranger, and they're now hunting Boruto.

Eida is a cyborg with a charm ability, that's beyond her control, and she developed a crush on Kawaki since he was the only person (at the time) who was unaffected by it.

she comes to his aid, and this stuff happened.

Why did he steal Boruto's eye?

he blinded the eye during an attack, but he didn't steal it.

Oh, so he's trying to kill Boruto to protect Naruto?

yea, he noticed that Momoshiki (the alien Boruto killed at the beginning of the series) is still around, and that he can possess Boruto at any point and be a threat to Naruto, so he's been against Boruto ever since.

Tbh, I do find it weird how hard Kawaki is crushing on Naruto.

EDIT: But Kawaki literally only knew Naruto for a few months. So I do wonder who's the bigger weirdo here...

I guess Naruto is the first one to really show him kindness, and make him feel like he has a place in the world. and he also sees how important Naruto is to the village, and how beloved he it by it.

so even though he getting rid of Boruto isn't ideal, it's a necessary evil.

I find it kinda weird that he doesnt have this kind of affection for Boruto. He consistently treats him like a brother but he doesnt even hesitate when he tries to kill him.

To be fair, that's a common plot twist. Body swap variant shenanigans. Some kind of plot where the cast forgets an established character and is replaced by an imposter.

The details can vary a bit, but it's really not a unique thing.

As for Boruto the series, the fact that Naruto and Sasuke was nerfed to the ground to make way for Boruto killed the series for me.

I want to like it because of the OG series, but its a travesty what Kishis assistant did to Naruto and Sasuke. IIRC is back, but the damage has already been done. I'd much rather they have already been dead, or even sealed away chapter 1 then what's happened to them in Boruto.

I cant wait for them to get to the time skip they showed in the prologue
