to bring them closer to Waluigi. as you may or may not know, the meta has been dominated by waluigi+wiggler/biddy buggy+roller wheels for literal YEARS, and apparently the gap between him and the rest of the cast has been made smaller, and i sure hope that's true, because the game has been nearly unplayable when everyone's a fucking speedrunner. my worry is that the meta will just shift to an even cheaper character, as Rosalina is now a monster, but we'll see

combination of waluigi's best raw speed and the performance of the karts and wheels. i believe they had the best mini turbo stat as well (hidden stat that affects drift boosting)

i'm not sure, i assume there has to be some hidden stat people are aware of that makes the difference.

apparently now Rosalina and Link are closest to Waluigi as fellow cruiserweights

I googled more seriously and Waluigi, Roy, and DK all have identical stats. People just prefer Waluigi because he's visually smaller.

It gets tough in the 10k range that's for sure. I still win every once in a while with Luigi + pipe kart + cyber slick wheels but when I see eight Waluigis with wiggler I just get irritated

Every driver except for Metal Mario, Gold Mario, Pink Gold Peach, Waluigi, Donkey Kong, Roy, Wario, Dry Bowser, Bowser, Morton, and large Mii has had their ground, water, air, and anti-gravity speed statistic increased by a value of 0.25 (1 point)

Baby Mario, Baby Luigi, Dry Bones, small Mii, Toad, Shy Guy, Larry, Peach, Daisy, Yoshi, Mario, Ludwig, medium Mii, Luigi, and Iggy have had their mini-turbo statistics increased by a value of 0.25 (1 point)

Every vehicle body except for Pipe Frame, Varmint, City Tripper, Biddybuggy, Mr. Scooty, Landship, Streetle, Standard Bike, Flame Rider, Wild Wiggler, and W 25 Silver Arrow has had their mini-turbo statistic increased by a value of 0.25 (1 point)

Every tire except for Roller, Azure Roller, Button, and Leaf Tires has had their mini-turbo statistic increased by a value of 0.25 (1 point)

Gotta give Nintendo mad props for buffing everything else instead of whacking things with the nerf bat.

Because that would invalidate some of the value in character and vehicle variety. Not to say that things couldn't be balanced better because they definitely can but still. Anyway the best vehicle combination should require optimal play to show it's worth. Most of the online players still playing regularly are hardcore so to keep everyone from comforming to a optimal build for the seemingly optimal strat they really should just keep nerfing and buffing characters and vehicles until there are a good variety of winning combinations.

Oh damn that's great. And they are adding new characters too. Along with the brand new course released today, they have really stepped it up. People gave me shit for saying they were doubling the game with the tracks and how "they aren't adding new ones or new characters or karts" but here they are adding two of three of those. Maybe they will add new kart pieces in the future

In the Wii U one I was 17k+ but I get the feeling it's cause there were a lot of rooms with people WAAAAAAAY higher than me (like 99999) propping me up too much. Now I'm hovering around 11k and 10k. I was over 11k for a bit there but I just get in such an insane rut there was a point in the past few months I thought I was going under 10k.

I also think the addition of two items instead of one was a stupid idea as the tracks weren't designed for it and they turn up the chaos just way too much. I can't count the amount of times I've been in first or second or third for the entire race then the final lap next to the finish line I get hit by 3 red shells and a bullet and a star and lightning bolt and all I get in the items are a fucking coin or a single mushroom.

i was just about to mention the item thing. the game straight up was not designed with two items in mind, full stop. i grew to like the single-item gameplay in the wii u version, even. now, doubling the items creates a complete fuck fest that you get stuck in while the waluigi wiggler time trials dudes cruise to a huge early lead and are unaffected by it. so all that happens is the people who are behind, stay behind, and the game becomes a lot more luck based*

*if you're in the item fuck fest, otherwise not even a blue shell drops the dude in 1st to second

in fact, that kind of thing happening is what made me quit CTR

in fact, i think the player count is increased from the wii u version, too

yeah, regional matchmaking is a little more chill, but at high VR, 99% of the players are all using the same thing and dumpster anyone who doesn't

i guess that's another thing, the ranking system sucks. i didn't ask or agree to be matched with these people, lol. i'd love a way to keep those dudes partitioned in their own sweaty side of the game

Yep I know exactly what you mean. It's doable, but damn if it doesn't really piss me off when I block 3 red shells from the guy behind me through skill and my own luck with items AND HE STILL HAS MORE! Especially when, as you said, Wauligi wiggler is way out in first place so second and third get 80 red shells and I'm in fourth place with a single mushroom. Ridiculous.

I don't really mind it if I'm in a room with people 12k and up, because the scaling helps out a ton. My wife is around 8800 so she'll get last place and lose like 2 points lol. But if she gets like 6th or 7th she'll get a solid 15 points which is worth it. Same for me but to a lesser extent. Like I said I'm pretty sure that's how I hit 17k on the Wii U, cause it was late in the console cycle and everyone still playing were ultra pros so I could fail upward way easily.

Followed closely by Waluigi, DK, and Roy.
Then Birdo, Yoshi, Peach, and Daisy are still solid choices.

Best carts are now Cat Cruiser, Teddy, Comet and Yoshi Bike with the past meta carts still being solid.

Babies and Biddy Buggy are still best for 200cc though.

As a fellow longtime Rosalina main, I'm both pumped that she's gotten and boost, and a little miffed that I'll now be seen as a trend-chaser by continuing to use her. I'm still sticking with my Silver Arrow though, love that thing.

if anyone wants to try a setup i found that actually challenged the old meta, try mario/tanooki mario (or similar statted character) with the streetle and slick wheels. very surprising performance, and now it'll be even better

When I played back on Wii U, I used Lemmy on bikes cuz turning is hard, but I still did pretty well online. Got over 9999 VR I think and still had average results most of the time after that. It was always satisfying passing by a pack of sweaty Mortons.

cuz it's fun to have different builds, at least in an ideal world. sadly a lot of kart combos aren't very good
