Im interested to see what is your go to stat either in rpgs or when making a character stronger in general.
Do you usually go offense or defense?
Is your first stat usually your strongest throughout your playthrough?

Well starting now I will check to see if the stat increase does anything

All my characters end up being the party "face" in terms of charisma.

Other than that, 50/50 between backstabby rogue types and nukey mage types.

Man Ive never been smart enough to go any other route than strength.

Whatever affects stealth

Dexterity. Aint got time to watch a character that I dont control miss over and over and over and over again.

I always pump my Otger

Whatever increases carry weight, if that is a factor in the game.

Otherwise agility.

Depends on the character, honestly

Strength for damage and carry weight, Charisma for dialog options, ability to have more influence, Intelligence or whatever applies to lock picking/safe cracking so I can access as much asap.

Depends entirely on the game, like in Biomutant melee is total garbage so you're better off just using guns and putting all your points into luck and agility, which is also true for FO3/NV/4(sorry melee/unarmed fans but you know it's true) but there are plenty of games where melee is the best way to go.

Whatever ups my crit chances.

I like charisma/speech since it can open up more options for the player.

Other stats just usually serve to kill things better which tends not to be that interesting.

Weapons with variable Bludgeoning/Piercing damage.

Intelligence if it also gives you exp boosts, strength for carrying more supplies otherwise.

I like to upgrade whatever my magic stat is and my defensive stats.

Stamina because health is really important for survival in recent games I play

Melee is absolutely broken in NV thanks almost exclusively to the Super Slam! perk, to the point where I actively avoided it on future playthroughs because it killed the suspense / challenge. In FO3 it's decent on its own, but becomes OP when paired with Stealth Boy / CCS. It's straight garbage in FO4 though, so you're at least half-right.

I feel like starting a new rpg after making this topic, but I always end up playing a spellsword kind of character. Or thats what they always end up being, at least.

I often play mages, so I voted for Intelligence. Or in the case of something like Fallout, so I can have more skill points.

Charisma would be second as the main character is usually the party leader.

usually damage related stats based on the build i'm going for. and i usually play styles that use dex as the primary.

bethesda games, the witcher, and some others, i go for conversation winning stats first.

Generally speaking I'll go with the games equivalent of agility. I like high damage, avoid tanks. Basically a glass cannon that relies on everything missing to make up for being squishy.
