It wasn't over-the-top goofy like Thor: Love and Thunder, but it was funny and enjoyable. I don't think it's top-tier MCU, but based on people's reception I thought it was going to be some kind of dumpster fire.

It had its weaknesses, but overall I had fun and so did my dad.

Wasn't the reason for Love and Thunder being so goofy because the whole movie was told from Korg's perspective? He was telling the story after all.

I have and this was weaker than anything in phases 3 and 4 (maybe better than dr strange 1 which I didnt really like)

After antman 3, one of my first thoughts were "ok thor love and thunder wasnt that bad"

I went to see it with my partner this past weekend. We both thoroughly enjoyed it and simply do not understand what all the hate is about. I thought it was in between good and great.

It was bottom tier Marvel unfortunately. Every part of the plot was so contrived, Scott had no character arc except "Where is my daughter!" Wasp and Hank were completely sidelined, none of the MODOK jokes landed, laughably bad Deus Ex Machina ending. The whole movie was pretty much pointless for the overall MCU except for the couple of Kang scenes, and even those didn't do much. The main Kang was the only bright spot.

Not sure if it was because of COVID limiting how they filmed or if other MCU movies just disguised it a lot better, but the whole film felt so boxed in. It was blatantly obvious throughout the movie that 99% of the scenes were shot in a studio in front of a green screen, with probably only one actor in the room. No chemistry between any of the characters in the scenes, probably because they weren't even filmed together. It just felt so awkward, really pulled me out of the movie.

Agreed. My main issues with it:
  • They took too long to introduce Kang
  • I didn't care about the civilization in the Quantum realm at all


But I enjoyed it. Kang was definitely the highlight of the film for me.

It was a movie made as if nobody saw Loki. Which is safe, I guess, but maybe this should have been his debut instead of that.

Were you surprised when the ants came back later in the movie? Because I wasn't. They even pointed out how the ants were getting smart enough to make their own technology in the beginning.

Maybe you called it a throwaway line because you didn't realize it wasn't one?

I knew they would show up in the final fight after we saw them again w/ Hank. It still doesn't make it good storytelling for the ant farm to take down Kang and his entire army single handedly.

They didn't though. Kang lived past that, and would have escaped if not for Scott and Hope. His shield wouldn't have broken if not for MODOK, either. The ants were a big help but not the sole resolution of the conflict.

And it was Hank's win, since they were his ants and they were actively looking for him. So that's basically complaining that Ant-Man used ants to achieve victory. That's kinda one of the things he does.
